    Casters for tool stands/bases?

I recently bought these casters off Amazon and used them for my V8 engine coffee table that weighs around 300lbs. The casters roll and swivel really well - better than what HF sells, and at about the same price (~$4/caster). The wheels have actual bearings, and the locks work well also.

    LED and Inrush Current

Its not just the inrush current, its also the "Power Factor". The circuitry will draw high amounts of current during short durations during the waveform. A 300W device that has a power factor of .5 draws as much current as a 600W device, even though its only drawing 300W.

    PB Swiss Screwdrivers

I never noticed the different grind of the PBSwiss drivers. Thanks for posting all the details. My family is ethnically Swiss, and my initials are PB, so seems like its about time for me to try out some Swiss drivers and compare them to my Felos

Quick change system for benchtop tools

2" square tube mounts are probably the most common - the same as a 2" square receiver for tow hitches. If you look online you'll find some manufactured mounts and vises for 2" square receivers, the idea being you can use them on a work truck, like this and this.

    6 point wrench set

I have a set of USA made 6 pt craftsman wrenches that I bought about 11 years ago. They're fantastic, but craftsman stopped making them awhile ago. Gearwrench now sells a few sets of 6 pt wrenches for a reasonable price. Not sure if they're a suitable replacement for SO ones though..

Hear we go, should I buy a new bench drill press?

I trawled craigslist for a few months and got a 12" ~10 year old Delta drill press on Craigslist for $150. It was barely used. Keep looking, be patient.

    Speaker System for Garage

In my experience, a garage has terrible acoustics, so no need for anything expensive or fancy. I'd just get some cheapie 8" speakers to get good bass. Something like this would work with a ~$200 amp. I recommend getting a bluetooth or wifi enabled amplifier, and hook up your favorite flavor...

Someone want to makes a million bux?

They do exist. I've seen them at Home Depot before. I worked with an electrician who wore them. He would use them the most to get screws out of his pocket or pouch. Just stick his index finger in there and it would come out with a screw. Pretty handy, but was also annoying a lot of the...

Who makes a decent Torx driver set?

I don't have the whole kit, but I have the smart handle driver, and I really like it. Quickly converting to a T-handle is very handy. I just use mine with regular 3" or 6" 1/4" shank bits. For torx drivers, I use Felo 500 series drivers, and I love them. The handles are great, and the tips...

HF's new 20v Earthquake Brushless grinder

But my point is that many of their newer cordless tools are not really any cheaper than the competition. If HF sold a brushless grinder for $80 and the Milwaukee one is $160, then that makes sense. If they're within 20% of each other, there's so much incentive to buy the Milwaukee grinder...

HF's new 20v Earthquake Brushless grinder

Milwaukee Fuel grinder on Amazon is $157. Makita brushless grinder (probably lighter-duty) is $106, Dewalt flexvolt grinder is $159. I get that most people would pay less than list price for HF tools, but I don't know about HF trying to directly compete with more reputable brands. Even if...

Why do Germans love Torx so much?

Torx is a superior design in pretty much every metric. If I lived in Germany/Europe, I would wonder why Americans are so obsessed with Phillips drive, when its a clearly inferior design. Totally agree about the new torx designs though... leave good enough alone.

    Tool box in the house?

I have one of the black Husky 46" tool chests in my office/electronics/hobby room. I'll probably put a 2nd one in that room when I move to a bigger house, I just love how much usable and efficient storage there is in a standard tool chest. I currently live in a 1 story slab on grade house - so...

Drywall to OSB, how would you finish?

I would either use a thin piece of trim, or put a thick caulk bead. I put up plywood for my garage walls, using paintable caulk (the cheap stuff that's less than $2 per tube) to put in the seams, kind of like mud. It came out pretty nice, and was cheap/easy. I think taping the seam would look...

Question About Felo Phillips Screwdriver Variation

I have about 40 Felo screwdrivers, and all of them have black tips (or at least had black tips out of the package). I bought all my Felo drivers online and they've all been fantastic. Only screwdrivers I know of that have gold/bronze tips are Wera lasertips.

    Sorting out battery powered tools

For maximum vanity you can wall-mount them. I just used large 3" nails on a piece of plywood. Mounting the battery chargers to the wall or on something sturdy makes a HUGE difference. When the battery charger is mounted, you can put batteries on and off quickly with 1 hand.

    Makita XWT08 Fair Used Price

If its in actual "like new" condition, I think that's a fair price. You might be able to haggle him down a little. New price = $235, $175 is about 25% off. My rule of thumb is used tools in good shape should be about 30% off the top, if anything because it will be hard/impossible to warranty it.

    ISO Slotted Screw Starters

Felo makes a set of screwdrivers ("M-TEC") that have a magnetic screw holder built into the tip. Obviously the downside to these is they only work on screws that can be magnetized. https://www.kctoolco.com/felo-51757-m-tec-4-x-200mm-slotted-screwdriver/

    Festool Bluetooth Remote

I work with a commercial door and hardware installer (I do the electrical stuff, he does the hardware stuff). He has a festtool set-up, including the vacuum and the Bluetooth switch. That switch is well worth the money. Every time saving (and back saving) measure really adds up. I always...

What Sparked Your Love of Tools?

My dad is much handier than most, but not a tool-nut, especially by the standards of the people on this forum. I used to help him doing projects a lot as a kid, and really enjoyed the experience. My dad has enough tools to do what he needs, but nothing fancy. I got a construction job...
