Bolts not tightened on red iron building?

Everything I did was on city or government entity projects. I had to pay for the special inspection that was farmed out to a private company but seldom did they actually inspect much. Same thing when we epoxied anchor bolts. Sometimes they would look at the Hilti packages to see the dates and...

Looks like I made a mistake....

I used to have a saying back when I did residential work; If you come to my shop and steal the materials and install them yourself you can get arrested for theft. If you have me come to your house, supply and install the materials, and then not pay me there is little I can do.

He is a storyteller. I wouldn't believe him if he told me today is Monday. Guys like that are always playing the game. I've dealt with a ton of them.

Unless you build an enclosure and keep it heated you are wasting your time and money.

Bolts not tightened on red iron building?

They don't require a special inspection where you live for A325 bolts? No "turn of the nut" tests? I paid a lot of money for thee tests over the years even though they often never bothered to go up and do any testing.

Let me know when you see someone compacting chunks of concrete with a jumping jack on a highway project.

New shop floor. Tear out or pour over

Two choices; 1. Small enough so you can carry the chunks out to your truck. 2. Less than 3/4 diameter Pouring a slab over busted chunks of concrete without compacting what is underneath it will get you a nicely cracked floor in a year or two.

    sheet rock mud

The biggest mistake they make is gobbing it on thick and then wonder why they have to sand for a week. Thinner layers, more of them. Much easier for the inexperienced.

New shop floor. Tear out or pour over

Backer rod is just a foam rod used to stuff into cracks before filling with a crack sealer. Without it the sealer would just endlessly run down the crack and into the subsoil. You can get it in varying sizes for different applications.

Prevailing wind and metal roofing question

I've put on a lot of multi-rib. Every job I did was for a City so inspectors and engineers were everywhere. Never once did they talk about which way to lap the panels. I also had to pay for Special Inspections due to the bolts used.

Looks like I made a mistake....

I was on a project one time and the Sheriffs Deputy was sitting in his car for quite some time. Turns out he was waiting for the concrete guy to finish troweling the slab before they took him to jail for smacking his wife around. Never saw him again.

They often overlay cracked up roads here. In a year or two they look like cracked up roads again. Go figure.

New shop floor. Tear out or pour over

I've seen this method tried numerous times. It always fails. I've always turned down projects where they wanted this done. I remember a City that wanted to do this over an existing concrete tennis court slab. I said I would not bid on it. They scoffed at me and had someone else do it. It...

It will also allow the floor to crack right where it is cracked now. Do it right the first time or keep fixing it forever. Your choice.
