Mastering of Hackery - welding a SDS bit.

Re: Mastering of Hackery - welding a SDS bid. How did it get there in the first place? What kind of pipe is it? Will this be on pay per view? Enquiring minds want to know.

    Permits

Whether it is a good idea is a sensible debate. Same goes with zoning requirements. Here in Minneapolistan they eliminated single family zoning. That means if you live in a nice single family area someone could knock down the house next door and build an apartment building. Isn't it Houston...

    3 hp electric motor

Back in the day I got a top of the line microwave at a garage sale for two bucks because it was shot. Took off the small panel in the back, put in a new fuse, worked fine. People have given me cars for free because the cost of having a mechanic fix them far outweighed the value, or so they were...

Building my dream turns into a nightmare – A QUICKEN STEEL Structure

A lot of the kids at manufacturing plants have never left the desk and it shows. I'm not talking specifically about buildings.

    popped breaking unplugging extension cord?

Did you look at the wires on the outlet? Perhaps one is loose. Been there, done that.

The blue box clashes with the red tools. It is definitely a fashion faux pas.

Mastering of Hackery - welding a SDS bit.

Re: Mastering of Hackery - welding a SDS bid. In my experience "easy fix" and "Saturday" never go together. Murphy never takes the weekend off.

    3 hp electric motor

4 post. I got a free radial arm saw once because they said the motor was shot. Brought it home, smacked the reset button and it worked fine. This "throw away" society we have is good for scroungers like me. Nobody wants to or knows how to fix anything nowadays.

    Final inspection?

I did commercial/ municipal work for the last 30 years and I used that trick many times. In one suburb the project inspector was a **** who just had to find something wrong. He wouldn't stop until he did. I would leave a gate crooked or something else that was very simple to fix.

It's on a Powermatic Planer. They say nothing happens when it is turned on. Might be the motor, could be a simple fix like connections. Don't know yet but I wanted some ideas before I looked at it. I have plenty of smaller motors that I have salvaged from other finds but nothing that big.

Building my dream turns into a nightmare – A QUICKEN STEEL Structure

I had to deal with a lot of manufacturers over the years and it got worse all the time. The kids on the computer have no idea how something is put together. They just rely on the computer to do all the thinking. I had a job where a piece was made wrong. I told the manufacturer that it was...

I don't do amazon. There are certain monopolies that I just won't support. I have been able to get by for over 60 years without a front step full of their boxes. I shall continue that trend.

    Permits

I've been in places where you don't need a permit for anything. Here in Minneapolistan you need a permit to apply for a permit and then a permit for the stapler to post the permit on the site.

Your local government can give you that. It varies from place to place.

    3 hp electric motor

I am looking at a wood planer but it needs a TEFC 3 hp 230V single phase motor. It has been quite some time since I bought a motor. Are they made of gold now? I looked at Grainger and then hid under the bed. Is there a better alternative?

    Craftsman jack issues

You could try to enter a product number here. Sears doesn't make anything themselves so whatever vendor made it should have parts. I've done it with air compressors and other Sears stuff. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/craftsman-hydraulic-jack-parts-c-158286_160075.html
