    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

I was on the phone last night with my Brother-in-law, a ME / PE and a smart dude. I can manually push the contactor in and force the motor to come to life. It seems like the wiring is 'good' but it 'something' just won't energize the contactor. It doesn't help that I have a crappy multi-Meter...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

So, I put my black wire on Term #1, White on Term #2 (they come from the on/off switch outside the cabinet) and ground to the Chassis. Air is hooked up. only thing that is not connected is the limit switch - but it's terminals are jumpered (10 & 11 according to the fantastic manual) - not sure...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

Skater asked me to post a pic of the motor tag - this is all I can see. There is a metal tag on the side of the motor that faces the enclosure's wall - would have to dismantle the whole thing just to read it.

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

StreetKing - That looks very nice. I hope to pour by mid week. I have a question for the group.... I want to test my lift before I put it into the pit. Having trouble with the manual's description of where to hook the power IN. Here's a couple of pics - the instruction page and the actual...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

My concrete guy was here yesterday - he's been doing this for 40+ yrs. He told me that trying to make a smooth transition from new to old would crack 'right now'. I believe him. He's gonna use a thin edge trowel on mine at that interface. I'm OK with that too. Here's what I did today - (sorry...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

I think I understand... Its easier to raise / lower the short side (front & Back) of the pad with the adjusters than the long side (Right & Left). 3/4" is a lot to make up in 4" with a 'ramp' to the angle iron. What if I split it - 3/8 on the floor of the pit and 3/8 on the 'ramp'? I get what...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

Moving right along... Meeting with my Concrete guy tomorrow - just to make sure I'm ready when HE is. Built my form - here's a pic. Still need to tweak it a little. Tack weld the angle Iron and find a way to hold it to the form while pouring, double check if everything stayed square, Get...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

Well, its done! And yes, the lines will fit in 1 1/2" conduit. It WILL be cozy but it will work. At 2:30 I had 35" to get thru - got it done at 5:00. (Well, my son actually did most of the work) 1st pic is the tunnel with the dented floor drain pipe - the ONLY way to get over it was to...

"I also tied the screeding 2x4 to the bottom of the brace. Figure once I start pouring I wouldn't be able to feed the 2x4 through." StreetKing, DUDE! You put a TON of thought into your form - and it shows!! Nice work. Me, I'm still struggling with that GD pipe I ran into. I'm trying...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

StreetKing - That look killer! You got I's dotted and T's crossed. Is that a re-bar mesh? how did you bend it? What is the small white / grayish tube at 3:00? And the other by the cement block? I'm not a builder - I AM a DIY'r though - but know zero about concrete work. It looks like...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

I am going to put a VB in but will be funky coz of the shape. Putting it on just the bottom seems pointless. I'll have to fold it up the sides and tape it - kinda like gift wrapping - and try to tie it into the existing VB. seems like a lot of work for what? I'm gonna talk to the guy that...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

SteetKing - you should be fine. 4" is Crazy Talk! I guess you 'T' the air line in the pit? Either way I'm sure you have room for 2 individual air and 2 oil in the 2" pipe. That's a 2" 90 in the pic and its kinda squished in the middle of the bend - still, passed both thru with fittings...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm gonna try a combination of all of these today. The auger would be best but no rental places have em. They are just for Vert. Post holes - no Horizontal boring around me in Central PA. I'm gonna get some 2" today and see if the lines will pass thru. There's 2...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

HELP!! Here's what I'm up against... My floor is 6+" thick. I was expecting (hoping for) an air gap under the slab. There isn't any. :( I have to tunnel 9' from my pit to a core hole that I drilled under the control box location. (Shown with the pry bar sticking out of the ground) There is...

Nitro - IMPRESSIVE Install!! " Run the conduit tight up against the pit forms so after you strip the forms, you can take a diamond bit on an angle grinder to cut out the thin bit of concrete into the conduit allowing clear access all the way to the wall." Great Idea!! A 'Frenched' look...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

Never thought about a tractor - was gonna hand dig it. Maybe a little kubota or a dingo? The room is a little tight for any 'real' equipment though. I have a skidsteer and a small dump truck that will be on site to load out those big blocks and lower the lifts into the hole - maybe I could...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

Well, I've begun..... Made a plastic room to keep dust and flying debris from the rest of my garage. Rented a 14" saw that will cut 5 1/2" max. That wasn't enough. Borrowed an 18"er, that did the trick. My concrete was extremely thick! Builder Def. gave me my money's worth - both mesh and...

How to Purchase a Scissor Lift from China

Dozer and all. The link in post 6 is a good one - answers lots of ?'s. Also this thread http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35433 There is some talk on the importing process - LONG post but it seems to be the 'Bible' on this. I did my own importing and it was rather painless. I...
