Shed door on it's last leg...

Those appear to be constructed similar to a combination door. I would see if you can remove the door and leave the hinges attached to the frame. Then replace the door with a piece of plywood. Then add rails and styles to make it look as fake as you want.

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

We just had a big wind and rain storm in Maine. Part of a barn blew into the road and broke a power pole. The barn kinda looked like your house.

Recommendation For 6x6 Post Bracket (Using 3 ply laminated columns)

Might need to use half inch on each side to maintain your spacing depending on how big your building is and what you have for lumber

Protecting generator from rain/snow during use

Saw horses and a piece of plywood over the top. I don't worry about the sides

What Are the tongs on the right used for?

The tool with the chain looks like a small version of a stump puller you would pull with a horse.

got an old toolbox on CL filled with stuff; what to do with it all?

Most of that is junk. Anything rusted or unidentified can go in the trash. I've limited my collection of that type of stuff to one half bucket to store for future use. I got a former IBM repair person tool box this summer with little storage bottles with part numbers full of useless do dads...

Placing shed skids directly on ground, not removing topsoil.

I could see a shed builder not wanting to mess with dirt work/ foundation work. Most house builders don't. Most customers don't care or know any better anyway. And the quicker that shed rots out, the sooner he can sell another one.

What kind of knife do you use to cut fiberglass insulation?

A cheap kitchen knife with a long flexible blade that you can sharpen with a file.

    Remove and rehang gutters?

If you want to take it down with out sacrificing the drip edge or destroying the gutter. Take a thin trim pry bar and put it between the back of the gutter and the facia near the nails to open up a small space. Then cut the nails with a sawzall.

    Let's see your axes

Nice ones. Usually you can drill a 1/8 hole in a metal wedge then screw in a sheet metal screw, and pry the wedge out using the screw

    Let's see your axes

Council tool makes really heavy fire fighter axes. And parade axes are a thing too. The embellishment on the heads looks like EDM which I would guess CT has the capability to do. Those handles are really funky looking though, I don't think they would admit to doing that.

Looking for a valuation on Greenfield tap and die set

Interesting all the sizes are fine thread. Probably why they have never been used. To me old taps are a consumable and value almost nill. The handles are nice quality though. I would use them if you ever come across the right job.

    HF tire changer

Mine broke the pin and the hold down spacer pretty quick. I drilled 4 holes for the wheels I was working on. The pure chineseium drilled very easily and I will drill more if needed.

Truss in way of roll up door.

I think you could safely move that truss over. Or that doesn't appear to be overly wide or a building, so you could install bigger rafters in place of that truss.

Woolwax Spray Gun - Thinner Cavity Wands?

I use fluid film and their sprayer. I tried some smaller hose and it didn't work. Doors or quarter panels I would drill some holes and install body plugs after spraying. Or slightly disassemble to spray.

    Evaluating a used planer

I have the same one. Make sure it goes up and down easily. I needed to replace one of the elevator nuts and it was hard to find at the time. Look at the feed rollers. They could be really dirty or worn out. It should have in feed and out feed extensions but a lot of times they're missing. Also...

    Trimming along rake

Yes. Finish sheathing then attach the rake board even with the roof sheathing. Then do the roof drip edge, etc

Am I getting old? No more air impacts?

I'll use my makita impact driver on small stuff like the plastic on the bottom of a car other than that it's air. My compressor is always full and I've never had an issue tripping over hoses that apparently plagues most people.

How to keep unused garden area weed free but also poison free?

Market gardeners use silage tarps to cover beds when not in use. You can get some big ones. You can also use them to control weeds after tilling.
