Well I guess you could say "kind of" they are attached to metal din rail mounts that probably provide some heat sinking but not much... Also there is no thermal compound under them.... Bingo! So the relays are 240 vac @ 10 amps so I'm sure at full load and max switching they will get hot...

DustSucker my fume and dust collector retrofit project...

Yes it sure can, and does. The slave's (currently plasmaSlave, remoteSlave, and sanderSlave) each can control the collector. I'm going to expand the functions slightly to make the collector operate at 3 speeds. So as it's setup now ( Mainly made for the plasma table setup) When the plasma...

Also got the cabinet all built and wired up. I added 4 crydom ss relays to the system for the control of the pulse cleaning system

Oh boy was I wrong!! That was wish full thinking! So I have also started another message thread in metalworking section about the retrofit of the dust collector as it contains information that is not pertinent to this thread if your interested check it out! I cleaned up the ui and the code...

DustSucker my fume and dust collector retrofit project...

So I started to post about the VFD install in the control box I'm making, in the VFD thread, however many probably have not seen that post. So I'm going to recreate it here. And as it goes beyond just a VFD install I will continue it here rather than there.... This is the replacement for...

So I thought I took pictures of the repaint but I can't find them..... Any way I painted it with Rustoliam rusty metal primer and catalyst added to the enamel Ford blue tractor paint. Turns out it's not a bad color match to the original color! Here is a picture of the back side. Here is...

DustSucker my fume and dust collector retrofit project...

So when it was drug it down the road, it messed up the bottom flange where the guillotine style dust gate is supposed to attach. I'm now going to have to figure out how to straighten it back to close to flat... Any ideas? I'm thinking about rigging up a straightening "bar" with a hook on...

DustSucker my fume and dust collector retrofit project...

Well I guess I should have started with that! So I got this to remove the smoke/metal dust from my plasma table that I'm also "retrofitting" (I suppose that I should also make a post about that too). In addition to the CNC table I'm thinking that I will use my RandBright 37" belt sander for...

DustSucker my fume and dust collector retrofit project...

So here is my Metal Dust collection system that I'm retrofitting. I started with a Torit filter collector that I picked up from FB marketplace. It had a rough life ( or at least a rough ending to its former life) Someone wasn't nice to it.... looked like it was pulled off the roof and...

Blind Bearing Pullers: interchanging collets (SO CG41-13 (3/8") & OTC 33857)

For a while the snap-on parts were not available, they are now back in production. Apparently the company that was making them went out of business, and I was told that snap-on either bought them out or picked up the manufacturering of the parts...

Well I have made some progress on the project.... It's been slow going though! I spent weeks tearing my hair out messing with the powerflex drive and Modbus. No mater what I tried to do I couldn't get it to work reliably and I finally had to give up and just control the drive using the...

Top-quality regulator and filter for my new Saylor-Beall air compressor?

I like the Wilkerson stuff 2. You will want an after cooler and you should use a centrifugal water separator after it before the tank. That combo will remove tons of water before it gets to the tank. Then you can deal with the remaining water. This is my latest attempt to get all the...

    Blast cabinet questions

There is normally a screen/sifter setup that inserts in through the door, and is just slightly smaller than the cyclone. It "filters" out the bigger **** from the beads before returning them to the gun. If you don't do this the gun will plug up a bunch

Ground rod at a CNC Plasma table ( good idea or nasty ground loop??)

So I have been working on finishing up the conversion, and also setting up the dust collector to run the table. For now I'm going to wait and see how it performs with out the grounding rod and if needed I will add it. I can just drill a hole through the floor and drive the rod down and crimp...

Ground rod at a CNC Plasma table ( good idea or nasty ground loop??)

1st CNC cutting with a plasma power source is about as close to a EMI **** storm as you will get. Some power sources are better than others but they are all still nasty. Most manufactures I have seen call for a ground rod at the table, not just Mastercam ( btw they have over 80k machines in...

Ground rod at a CNC Plasma table ( good idea or nasty ground loop??)

So I'm finally nearing the end of my control system retrofit of my Mastercam 3000 plasma table. With the original control panel Mastercam suggested the table's star ground point be connected to a ground rod installed at the table ( or as close as possible ). This means that the output from the...

I 3d printed a bezel for the HMI board and eliminated one of the switches as I don't need it. Slowly making progress with the rest of the control cabinet.

Hot glue gun that doesn't ****?

I have 3, 3m pneumatic hot melt guns. They work very well but just the glue costs 30X more than most are going to pay for a whole cheep glue gun. They make about 14 or maybe more types of glue for them, the carton closing is the cheapest stuff they make and it comes in 22lb boxes ( 1"X3"...

I guess it's time to upload one of my many VFD installs This one is the replacement for the controller for my dust collector. It's a A&B 10hp powerflex 40 drive with an external heat sink. I normally run drives with the internal cooling fans but got this one cheap so... It was a pain the...

40x50 red iron shop, I bought two 8' long, copper clad ground rods for opposite corners...

If you haven't poured the concrete yet do a UFER ground. They work much better than a normal 2 ground rod system. looks like it may now be required to have an additional rod with the UFER system, but the UFER system is the way to go. Also I don't think you should run 50 feet between your rods...
