    Name a tool you hate

A paintbrush or paint roller. I don't mind painting something as long as I can spray it. Thank god my girlfriend likes to paint, she is now the designated painter. I'm good at it, I just don't have the patience. Another is the post-hole digger. Seriously?! A powered auger is worth the money...

    Best socket organizer. Ideas?

I use the craftsman magnetic trays for the sockets I use most (all my metric sockets 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive). I use the metal clip ones for the sockets I don't use often (Standard).

    Garage door insulation?

I used the 3/4" foam board (with one shiny side) on my 16' door with no problems. 3 pieces per "panel" fit perfectly. Also, if you cut them right, you don't need to use glue. I cut mine the height of the opening and bent them to slide them under the lips, then when they straightened out, they...

What Is The Last Tool You Bought at HF

Just in the last few weeks I've bought: -Oscillating Multi-tool ($19 with coupon) I Plan on using it to undercut the door jambs when I lay the hardwood floors in my house in a few weeks. If it breaks...oh well. It's only $19 and I have a hand undercut saw as a backup. -Set of 4 chisels (these...

    Drywall vs. Plywood Interior Walls

I would use 3/4" ply for garage cabinets since most likely you'll be storing heavy stuff in them. 1/2" ply would be fine for kitchen cabinets though. As for for putting them up to the ceiling...sure. I would just leave about a 1" gap at the top to allow for any unevenness of the ceiling so the...

    Drywall vs. Plywood Interior Walls

Is there an "attic" space above the garage? If so, you could blow in some for about $300 once the drywall is up. I did it a few years ago. HD had a deal going that if you bought 10 bails of fiberglass insulation, they would rent you the blower for free. I only needed about 5-6 bails to do my...

    Drywall vs. Plywood Interior Walls

Drywall is cheaper than plywood. A 4x8 sheet of 1/2" drywall is about 6.99, a 4x8 sheet of 1/2" ply is about twice that. 4x8 OSB is similar in price to drywall however.

Radial Arm Saw or Sliding compound Miter saw??

I have a Dewalt 12" sliding compound miter saw. It works great for cross cutting boards up to 16". For anything bigger I use my table saw to cross cut or I use a circular saw with a square and a makeshift fence. I also have the stand with mine too and I absolutely love it. I got it for free as...

Building a NEW GARAGE.....with attatched house!

Love the garage and house! I like the L shaped idea. Will you be parking vehicles in the back or using that as a work area? One concern though...Why is your drywall hung vertically? Drywall should typically be hung horizontally for strength to prevent seams popping.
