    Power drill recommendations

Buy the Hitach 18V lithium ion combo kit. It comes with an impact driver and a drill. I find myself using the impact driver 90% of the time. Well worth the money! It's a compact very ergonomic design, well balanced, get power, and great battery life...

    110v Receptacle

It's common practice around here to install them ground pin down. The first time I saw it the other way I was like...uh they installed them upside down. Look's weird to me with the ground pin up.

    lighting in garage

I never really checked on mine to be honest, but I used them on mine for 2 years when I was renting, and I'm going on 4.5 years having them hardwired at my new place that I own. Mine are the $15 Lithonia lighting 4' fluorescents.

    lighting in garage

When I was renting my last place, I had (4) 4' fluorescent shop lights hanging on chains, then extension cords running to a power strip plugged into the wall. I used the power strip to turn them on and off. When I moved I brought the lights with me and hardwired them into my new house.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Monday night, I built some more storage platforms above my garage door down the side wall of the garage to get stuff off the floor. Last night, I finished up and re-organized & cleaned the garage. Most of my tools have been in limbo the last few months...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Didn't spend much time in the garage this weekend as I was putting the finishing touches on my girlfriend's bathroom in her condo that I've been remodeling for the last few months. I did however spend some time in the garage on Thursday evening making...

Dewalt vs Craftsman Cordless for Homeowner use

Look into Hitachi. I love my Hitachi power tools. They're much more solid than craftsman and are more "balanced" and ergonomic. I have an 18v Lithium ion impact driver & an 18V lithium ion drill I bought as a set. They are a very compast design, light weight, plenty of power and plenty of...

    School me on hanging Drywall

5/8" on the ceiling, Perpendicular to the trusses as previously suggested. Also, RENT A DRYWALL LIFT! It's worth every penny for hanging drywall on the ceiling.

BIG Problem, Pool table will only fit in my Garage!!

I used to have an 8' table at my old house I used to rent. It was a split level house with a 2nd living room "downstairs" right off the garage. It was a perfect room for a pool table. It was about 20 ft X 15ft. I got that table for free from a friend who was upgrading to a 9' table. I spent $100...

    Husky Hang Alls

I use the plastic "jaw" type cable clamps that have nylon loops attached to them. I use them for my extension cords and air hoses. Those hang alls are nice. My buddy who is a finish carpenter/GC uses them in his 17' enclosed trailer hanging from the ceiling to store long pieces of moulding/trim.

    Sealing Plywood

A few coats of poly-urethane should be fine. Or you could do some of that liquid glass acrylic stuff they use on bar tops.

what did you learn in the garage

DL - When I was 16 first wrenching on cars, I learned to ALWAYS USE JACKSTANDS AND NEVER USE A FACTORY SCISSOR JACK to lift a vehicle. No one was hurt, however a friend of mine came within a second of losing his leg. He pulled it out from under the falling car in just the knick of time. 2 broken...

    Recessed/Pot Lighting Question

New installation has "legs" that attach to the ceiling joists. "Retro fit" or "remodel" housings clamp to the drywall. Make sure you get an IC rated housing for anything coming in direct contact with insulation. In my house I installed New install cans because I have a ranch home (1 story)...

    diagonal cutter ?

When I swapped my cloth seat covers in my truck for Katzkin leather covers. I used snap ring pliers to remove the hog rings, it worked great. It basically did the opposite of what the hog ring pliers do. I just spread them apart with the snap ring pliers and pulled the hog ring out with my...
