    Rusted out oil pan repair

Howdy. The oil pan on my 1999 Honda CRV is rusted out. 1 small thru hole and some thin areas. It is concentrated in one area of the pan.. The rest is ok. I suspect that a replacment will be half as thick and also rust out quicker then the orginal one. I am thinking about brazing up the hole...

    Home Shop Tire Changer Questions

I too want a tire machine and even a simple manual snap on balancer would be ok (the kind where you find the heavy spot then divide the wheel into thirds) . I worked my way through school at a tire shop so it is especially agrivating to see the high cost and incompetitance. My vote is for used...

Anything you wish you had under the slab? (other than radiant)

If you do any fixing of bent stuff, a post in a corner somewhere is what I wish I had put in before the floor pour. Ideally 2 posts about 4 -6 inches apart to straighten bent items if you have the room.

    ATV Winch Contactor

Thanks for the replies. The diesel glow plug relay would work for one direction. Two would be needed for spooling in and out. The ones in Summit are exactly what I need. Much more then the cheepies I got. I will get one of them. Thanks for all the replies.

Isn't that such a nice feeling?

Howdy, to a great extent that's what it is all about for me. That feeling of getting something fixed myself. That feeling is (in my opinion) is what's missing from a great deal of people today.... Big problem in our society that I don't think we realize how much of a problem it really...

Do you use a service cart?

Howdy, Thought about this a lot. You can really improve your effeciency in working on cars with a cart instead of going back and forth to put tools down on the bench. I have a metal 3 shelf with a small vise mounted on one corner. In retrospect a plastic one would be good. I have no work...

    XPR-10 cable adjust

Same issue with Challenger SA10. Finally resolved it by adjusting on non power side. Originally thought only one side needed adjustment. Finally got it perfect but it took some time to get it there. Now I need to tighten the cable on the lock release lever as the far side does not always pull...

Hot water heat by outside woodstove

To reduce electric heating costs I got a wood stove, and plenty of wood, but no room for the stove inside. Would like to make up a heat exchanger, fill it with RV antifreeze and pump it inside to a Modine style heater with fan. (planning to also incorporate an expansion tank and pressure...

    Cupola Purchase

We installed a functional Cupola in our shop roof. Before installing it, we lined the inside with plastic screening so bees and bats would not get in the building. It is copper roof with white plastic outside. (PVC I think.) been about 12 years and still looks good eventhought the copper has...
