    Snap on plasma cutter Info.

Howdy, Just got a Snap On 118-008, YA2230 Plasma cutter. Got it home and it barely cuts sheet metal (.02") The electrode was very worn so I got some new ones and tips on order.. Got the manual from Snap on and it says it can cut up to 1/2" mild steel. I think it will be amazing if it cuts 1/4"...

Howdy, Now that my shop is mostly done. (automotive shop, compressor, 10klbs lift, mig, arc, oxy/acc. welders, pneumatic tools....) My 17 year old son is working on some friends cars alone while my wife and I am at work. I hope/believe i've taught him well, but sometimes I worry. Any one else...

2 Post Lift Relocation in Garaqe

I have the same problem. Not really a problem when I have a full size pick up truck on the lift.... I use a roll around cart with a vise on it while working under cars-as a bench/tool holder. I have thought about a folding down work surface in front of the lift.

    Mechanic needing advice

Excellent exchange. Nice to see people helping. I am just a DIY wrencher with a lift, and my 17 year old kid working in the shop often. I am very concerned about leaving critical stuff loose. Very simple to stay focused. not always easy. I really force myself and tell my kid that you must...

    Adjusting 2 post lift

Howdy, Got a Challenger SA10 2 post about 6 months ago. After regular usage, the locks on one side engage slightly later than the other sides. I know the cables have to be adjusted, just looking for any one else who has done their's and what to look out for. Thank you

Any auto repair shop owners here?

Thought a lot about this also. I have concluded that it may be better to buy and sell. 1-2 cars a month for a while. No repairs, just buy low /fix/clean and sell for a few hundred more. I think that is more reasonable then repairs for a home business. Interested to hear what others think.

Cars falling off lifts - why?

Along these lines, I always wonder about the situation with the frame engauging adapters that did not come with my SA10 Challenger 2 post, that I just put in. It has the rubber pad adapters but on the side it has a warning not to use with full frame vehicles and shows steel only "U" shaped...

    Dayton 220v Heater problems

Howdy, Just got my Dayton heater installed. It hangs from the ceiling. 220v single phase. It barely heats. Fan slows down and speeds up on its own, like it needs oil/cleaning, but it is brand new. Have the jumpers set to original settings. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thank you

    Soldering copper

Had to chime in here as I have re-plumbed several homes - completely. I agree with all previous posts. I have used wet vac many times also. One more suggestion. Heat the fitting as it has more mass then the pipe. Also use lead free solder (tin/antimony)

How old were you when you built your (dream?) garage?

I was 51 when I got it all set up. Took many years to get my act together and 12 years of the building a barn for my kids horses.... Well worth the wait. One of the most satisfying things I have ever done. Wife encouraged and helped alot with the drawings.

Old World tool - What is it?

Got this from my father inlaw's stuff. Initially it looked like a hammer/pipe wrench combo. The there are no wear marks to indicate either of these uses. The "jaws" open when the handle is unscrewed. Any ideas what it is? Thank you

whats a few things youve learned here?

Learned really good, useful stuff: 1. A great deal about 2 post automotive lifts - resulted in me being really happy with the product I choose and my install. 2.
