Because my wife said yes! 30x40 pole building

Great thread man. This is about exactly what I'm going to build later this year (maybe next year).

Mini Split Sizing and Placement Assistance

Last place had a shop about that size, metal building with R9 in walls and ceiling. I put in the Mr Cool 24k BTU and it was about right. MAYBE a little undersized. But a metal building is hotter, and I'm not sure I trust the R9 rating of that insulation. If I were you, I'd probably do the 24k.

Cross post ... Ceiling Insulation Thoughts

Am I reading that right that you'll have two vapor barriers?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Grabbed this yesterday. Didn't get a great look at it and won't be able to get back to it for a couple of days. I likely won't be able to do any work on it at all for a few months. Currently moving house/shop/etc and won't have a chance. But It looks decent, other than the scar. Also picked up...

REED R Series. Post your Reed date stamps.

What a great thread! Picked up a Reed last night. Along with a 160lb anvil and a blacksmith's/leg vise. Not sure if it has a repair...Or just a scar. It was dark and I only had it in the light for about 5 minutes (I'm moving and I just dropped it at the new house). I'll get it cleaned up...

    Vapor Barrier/Insulation for Metal Building

Thanks for the input! My south and west walls are fairly well covered by large trees, so that's good. I figure that if I were to sheath the interior and not add any insulation, it would probably be fine. It'll have no airtight deadspace...And my mini-split is oversized for the space anyway...

Wood Shed Man Cave - Insulation and Mice Advice

Oh, and the canned spray foam that comes in a green can is mouse/insect repellent. It's in all the box stores.

Wood Shed Man Cave - Insulation and Mice Advice

I can't speak to the vapor barrier, I don't understand it enough and don't live in your climate zone. But that's a tiny space. I'd buy a small electric heater, and wouldn't hurt myself insulating it too much. Fire it up an hour or two before you go out there on really cold days.

    Wall mountable shop fan recommendations

Couldn't tell you what brand they are. I don't even think they say. But my shop isn't that big...These fans are only about 20" in diameter.

    Wall mountable shop fan recommendations

I grabbed these two wall mount fans from Northern Tool when they went on sale a few years ago for like $60 each. They oscillate and move a ton of air.

    Vapor Barrier/Insulation for Metal Building

I have a 26x30x10 metal building (red iron frame) with some of that thin white/foil backed fiberglass between the metal frame and the metal walls/roof. It MAY be R5, but that's being generous. 100 degree day and my 18k BTU window shaker would always keep it down to 80ish if ran on high before...

    Air conditioning the shop.

I have a 24x30x10 metal building with a thin layer of insulation w/radiant barrier between the trusses/purlins/frame and the sheet metal. Foil and maybe R3-R5 of insulation. My 18k BTU window shaker would knock the edge off on a 100 degree day, knock it down to maybe 80 after the full day...

Current Mr Cool 24k DIY Pricing

Bought my MrCool DIY 24k BTU from Home Depot a couple of weeks ago at $1,461. It's gone up to $1,500 or so since then, but I couldn't find that price anywhere else.

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

Has anybody seen a line cover set/kit that's more than 14' or so? Pretty much all of my lines will be outside, and I'd rather not buy two kits if I can avoid it.
