MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

Ordered my 24k DIY today. Home Depot has them for $1,461 + tax. That's a few hundred cheaper than just about anywhere else. Metal 24x30x10 (12 or so at peak) steel frame building. One 9x9 door (insulated) and one insulated man door. Walls and ceiling have like...R3 or R5 between the sheet...

    Portable A/C or window unit?

I bought an 18k BTU window shaker off of The List of Craig about 10 years ago for like 100 bucks. It's a bit small for my shop, but on a 100 degree day, it would knock it down to just below 80 and remove most of the moisture. **EDIT** My shop is a 24x30 metal building with a thin...

    My 24X24 build thread.

Dang man, you work FAST! For your trim error...Just put 7/8ths of a picture frame around that corner with a printed sheet inside it that says "Measure THREE times". It'll make it funny so you won't stare in anger at it all the time. That's how I "fix" my screwups :D

    Patio mister

Just wondering if anybody's built a patio misting system on here. I did a couple of searches that didn't come back with much of anything. I didn't like what I was seeing with the kits, so I bought a bunch of 1/2" PVC pipe, PVC fittings, a pile of nozzles, and a couple of bottles of Chimay for...

    Cooling metal shop building

I've got a 28 x 30 metal building with the same insulation you do, and I use a 20k BTU window unit to cool it. On the hottest days (like today), it'll knock it down to very bearable 78-80 degrees. I've thought about installing a second one (cut a hole in a wall because I've only got one...

    What's this box worth?

For both boxes? I'd pay pretty close to what he's asking in a heartbeat. I've got that same top box and it's about 30 years old...Still works great. And it's overflowing with tools, so it's not being used "lightly" either.

24x30 End Wall or Side Wall Doors?

I have a 24x30, and the big door is on the end. I f'n HATE it, and for the very reasons stated in this thread. It makes it a long two car, whereas if the door was on the side, I'd have a large 3 car. I'd add a side door...BUT...For every door you put in, you lose that much wall space. The shop...

    Long pattern line wrench?

That's what I use...Crow's foot wrenches/sockets....ON my PS lines. Before that, I just hacked off a couple of wrenches and used those.

    Lighting a smaller garage?

Mount the lights on the walls on either side of the garage door. Not only will the door not block the light...It works better for lighting anyway. Not sure how to solve the cold problem though...I'm a wussy and won't go out there if it's cold :D

    The SO obsession

That's why you should buy and daily drive a '34 Packard. :pimpflash As for the topic at hand...A great many of my tools are Snap-On, the rest are pretty much Craftsman...Both great tools...But Snap-On pretty much owns them in the "how it feels in my hand" and "I don't break many of these"...
