My First Garage - 20x20 Attached in Vancouver, Canada

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7685849&postcount=6 That's an earlier post in my thread about the shelves. They are pretty reasonably priced for such big and strong shelves and while they are a bit of work to get in, I absolutely don't regret for a second putting them up...

My First Garage - 20x20 Attached in Vancouver, Canada

Those are SPG International Professional boxes - now out of business. They are extremely well built - approx 250lbs per 36" box and I got a crazy deal at 50% off MSRP as they were clearing them out. I don't have many frame of references but they felt like 3x the boxes I was seeing at Home...

My First Garage - 20x20 Attached in Vancouver, Canada

A real issue in the garage was a lack of good lighting, now that I am working on the race car regularly. My garage came with two screw in fixtures on the ceiling which the previous owner put dual bulb splits into and then 800 lumen CCFL loop style bulbs into them. I finally ordered some lights...

    G-Floor for a garage floor

I just put the ribbed G-Floor product into my trailer, but had it on my garage for 2 weeks to "relax". In the short time I had it down in my garage over the bare floor, I really appreciated how much nicer it was to have something down - easy to clean, etc. BUT - I was amazed how hard the...

My First Garage - 20x20 Attached in Vancouver, Canada

It seems like I'm talking to myself a little bit these days, but I like having this as a "journal" and I hope that others with smaller garages might find inspiration from little things here and there. I've continued to refine my workbench in small ways - I added another light over the side...

    Best overall floor jack?

I am also in Canada and have had an OTC aluminum racing jack for the last 10 years or so: https://www.otctools.com/products/2-ton-capacity-aluminum-racing-jack It has not required so much as a set of seals despite being well used and then sitting for extended periods of time. For the money, I...

My First Garage - 20x20 Attached in Vancouver, Canada

Another day, another project. One of the things I've wanted to address since moving in was the stairway from the garage to the house: (Use your imagination that there are two railings there...) The primary rationale to make a change was that when I park two cars in the garage, literally...

Just picked up a DeWalt 20v 3/8” impact wrench

I skipped the 3/8 and have the 1/4 and 1/2. I find that the 1/4 is pretty beastly and can basically do any home task - lag bolts into the walls, etc and the 1/2 is pretty easy to get into most places on the car. -Mark

    Lets see your workbench

That's because I put those hangers on the studs... and since the pictures were not centered on studs, I had to custom measure each one and do the math to correctly locate the pictures left/right. I can OCD with the best of us!! -Mark

Guys, I promise, it's straight in line!!! I even went out to the garage to double check... -Mark

    Lets see your workbench

Haha ironically the left picture is right in line with the edge of the work bench, it's just the perspective of the shot. Note the left edge of the picture in line with the shelf end above it: -Mark

    Lets see your workbench

A few updated shots of my work bench with my new Yost 204 4" Machinist Vise, cleaned up and mounted chargers, and a bit more organization on the peg board. Nothing compared to some of the work benches in this thread but it has to live in my 19x19 suburban garage along with 2 cars! -Mark

My First Garage - 20x20 Attached in Vancouver, Canada

Oh man, it's been awhile! Now that I've been sticking around the house pretty closely, I've knocked off a few small projects in the garage (mostly just cleaning back to the previous state of organization). My dad had given me 16' of slatwall that we found on closeout which I've put up on the...

    Lets see your workbench

Pro 3.0 - I have both in my garage. I couldn't fit the Pro 3.0 lockers in a specific spot (36" wide) so bought the Bold (30" wide) and they cosmetically match my Pro 3.0 uppers well but the thinner gauge of steel metal is immediately obvious and they feel far less nice to open and close the...

    Lets see your workbench

My neurotic/OCD side loves the foam cutouts, but my practical side can't help but wonder - literally do you throw those out and start over when you get one new tool? I am still far too much in the "accumulation" phase of my life to say I am never going to get another set of pliers... -Mark

    dubber's triple v3.0

I installed a bunch of the slat wall in my garage and it amuses me to no end (and I appreciate) how much work you did to install that to have flexibility... to add one hook, dead center! It looks great, it's just funny ha. Cheers, Mark

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Bald is Beautiful - 7k sq feet+ of Gruntledness

What a truly insane thread - I absolutely love it. I find it hard to believe than in 47 pages, nobody has dared ask what you do for work to pay for what I imagine are like $150k+ in cars which seems to be invested $100 at a time? :D -Mark

    Planning Oversized Detach Build

It sounds like you have trucks so maybe not an issue, but I would think about the implications for driveways if you choose to raise rather than dig into the side of the hill. For my purposes, a 3-4' elevation would make it very hard to get low clearance racecars in and out with out a mile long...
