    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

Yeah, 1. I went to a lawyer and talked to them about my options. We're on a razor thin line on whether or not suing this guy would make any sense. He has some resources, but he also has some other lawsuits (shocked face), and it looks like he could easily file bankruptcy. Lawyer recommended...

Booster pump at a distance, what size wire?

At this point, exchanging the pump for a 240v pump won't make sense. I've been using the pump for several months, just near the top of my hill. It isn't getting as much water as it needs, so I'm lowering it down the hill. @LopezBart thanks for the suggestion. I'm guessing switching to 240V...

Booster pump at a distance, what size wire?

Hey, I have a booster pump that I'm about to wire at the bottom of a hill. I've got to run the wire about 350ft. Its plug in is a standard 110 volt 3 prong, and all I want to power at the bottom of the hill is maybe some minimal lighting (probably low draw LED), and during winter I'd like to run...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

As an update, and as was predicted, I've reached out to 3 different structural engineers in my area. All of them have declined. None of them even entertained the idea. There's still a few more I'll call, but I'm starting to get the feeling that no one is going to want to touch this. What a...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

I believe you. And I don't know what to say or do. About every hour I switch whether I want to go talk to them more, or just sue them.

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

I only have assumptions. And the guy who gave me the plans also had assumptions. And here they are. This company has never done a single slope roof. I'm their only one (I didn't know this until now). They have a team that gathers what the customer wants, and then a team that fabricates the...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

And to add on, the plans I posted were wet stamped by an engineer on the bottom right. All 5 or so pages had the same stamp. I only uploaded the final page because it was the only page that had the complete house. I'll upload the rest here. An additional note on the plans. I was looking...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

It's not the entire contract. But there's only one more page, but it only has things like the number of windows and doors. Nothing else. Everything else that we communicated was through email with me giving descriptions of the building I wanted. I have absolutely nothing in writing showing...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

Yeah, it's not fun to feel like an idiot for being taken, but......I feel like it's pretty common for people to trust contractors, and then get screwed. Having said that, I contacted a couple of lawyers this morning, and they're both reviewing the details to possibly take the case. Both of...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

The best part of "some other guy will install it" is that, it's not true. The same people who sold it to me, installed it. I think they just have the install company under another LLC in case they're sued. Hopefully that doesn't hold up in court, but who knows.

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

Line 1 is basically "you can't sue us", but I've been told that doesn't typically stand up in court. Also, they have a separate "company" that does the install. It's literally the same people that create the building. They have 3 companies made up of those same people, and they each handle a...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

I agree with what you've said. I will say one thing though. The most frustrating part for this for me has been that this builder was referred to me by more than a couple of people, and he was the 2nd most expensive builder. So, I went with the 2nd most expensive option, and got the worst...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

After looking up a lot of information about how these lawsuits go, you appear to be completely correct. The plans were not included in the contract.

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

I think you're right and the plans help nothing. I'm just going to see what they are willing to do. But I can't just accept this at a loss. I'll still probably get an engineering plan to fix the building, but after that, it's whatever these people will do for free. If they won't do anything...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

They refused to show me the plans, but they drew them on paper (super basic, just single lines with what I ended up with), but in their shop, they showed me the double pillars. I visited the site every single day. BUT, I will say, that when I saw the "studs" weren't doubled up and asked about...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

Here's the original contract, that clearly states single slope.

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

I desperately wish this thread was a farce. I think what happened is that I went over the plans with his wife, and his employees, and he didn't bother asking anyone about what the building needed to be except for the size. 60x40. And he maybe paid for the engineering plans without knowing...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

I'm worried that if I go the lawyer route, even if it's a bad idea they'll say that I should go their route. I mean, they make money if it's good or bad for me. I feel pretty confident that this company has enough money that it wouldn't be useless to sue. They have a factory with forklifts...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

Alright, well this just got a lot better or worse for me. I have the engineering plans. Attached below. As you can see it's nothing like my building. The supports for the trusses were supposed to be doubled up, and it says they aren't to be spaced more than 8 ft. They are actually spaced 10...

    Is this building OBVIOUSLY bad?

So, some interesting information today. Turns out that they do have engineered building plans for this building. A new employee told me the name of the company that provided the engineering plans for the building, and that they have them. The issue, is that they went against the engineering...
