Building the Cub Cadet Garage. Finally it's Done

My dad is 77, and if he mixed 30 bags of concrete and hand poured those two perfect slabs, I'm pretty sure he'd be in the hospital for two months. You're unbelievable. Go get 'em, man, you're setting an example I hope to live up to.

    Slanted driveway and jack stands?

My thinking was a lifting eye because I can just unscrew it and put a grub screw in the hole when it's not in use, so there's nothing to trip over at all, and so it's less obvious that there's a hole in my driveway.

Seems like a nightmare to pack up an entire garage. When is the last time you moved (your entire tools & garage) ?

I moved four weeks ago, and it was way way easier than I expected. I rented a storage unit prepaid for 3 months, and bought a bunch of HD boxes. I spent about 3 weeks and a lot of trips back and forth getting almost my entire shop except large items into the storage unit. Then I moved my box on...

Successful strategy for selling father’s lifetime of tools

My partner has pretty clear instructions. She's supposed to call my Snap-On dealer and ask him to go through my stuff and pay her whatever he thinks is fair for whatever he's interested in. He's a good person, he'll probably give her 50% of what he thinks he can resell for. Then she's just...

    Slanted driveway and jack stands?

This is such a great idea. My concrete driveway has a 4.9% grade, and my truck is way too tall to go into the garage. I'm definitely interested in doing this, I'm thinking I'll put sleeve anchors in and use them to secure platforms that sit level in 4 corners, then I can jack the truck up onto...

I think one of my tool truck drivers has had it with non payers

if you're breaking knipex enough to pay a bunch of extra cost for truck warranty, you're using the wrong tool for the wrong job. knipex pliers are not a thing people should be casually warrantying on a regular basis if used for any of their intended purposes.

vintage Delta planer thoughts and comments

I really had no idea Delta was out of business now. I guess that explains why Delta Cruzers aren't available in stores anymore, but my Cruzer is the best miter saw I've ever used - I really like the Delta stand for it too.

Triumph Drill/MN Twist Drill Closing Facilities in MN

It's 2026 right now? I'm waiting for spring of 2028 when @jsackin has acquired a dozen pallets of discontinued Triumph-manufactured drills for pennies on the dollar and sells them to us for quarters on the dollar. I'll be buying!

    Steel suppliers in Silicon Valley?

Just found this thread, I've been shopping at Industrial Metal Supply for the last year and averaging $2.15/lb. Hard for me to imagine $1/lb being expensive anymore

    Custom wrench project

I would absolutely use 8/10/13/15 or 10/13/15/17, and I think you could probably get Land Rover parts websites like Atlantic British or Lucky8 to carry that tool.

Can we completely replace our combo wrenches with ratcheting ones yet?

I carry a bunch of tools in my truck, but the truth is that 99% of things I do on the trail or on the side of the road only require two mountain wrenches, an 8-10, a 13-15. Anything I can't do with those and a small socket set, I'm calling for a tow anyways and doing it at home. I don't even...

Benchmark Abrasives 16pc Forstner Bit Set

https://benchmarkabrasives.com/products/16-piece-forstner-bit-set Benchmark lists these as being made in the US, but they don't look quite like forstners from any of the manufacturers I can find. I've had great success in the last year with consumables from Benchmark, and I assume these are fine...

First Experience with Vim Tools Ends in Dissappointment

I only have had bad experiences with VIM tools. Not a fan.

Cutting thin (25 - 20ga) sheet metal with table saw & abrasive cutting wheel...thoughts?

This is a bad idea. Don't do it. You'll ruin the table saw. Just buy a 3" cut-off wheel, whether a pneumatic one or something like the Milwaukee M12 one.

Torque Adapter Set - Please Reply with Data if you own a set!

They're really great for replacing suspension bolts. One thing I run into a lot is front lower control arms on Land Rover LR3, LR4, and RRS. The cats are in a position where you basically can't torque the rear LCA bushings without removing the exhaust, especially on the left side, no matter how...

    Lowes deals/sales/clearance

I have a Delta Cruzer, this looks kinda similar with the robot arms. I love mine.

What are you doing with you "Hot Deals" Durham Instrument Cart?

Wishing I got one, mostly. I kept checking to see if it would restock a third time. Have still checked every day, haha. I really wanted one, bummer to miss out.

    Icon vs Wiha

Only screwdrivers. Wiha is a screwdriver brand. I'd just buy better tools from different brands for similar prices rather than Wiha.

    Snap On deal?

Just be careful, Snap-On on Facebook can easily be a scam, and you don't have the buyer protections of eBay. Unless you mean in-person marketplace

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Unfortunately I'm moving right now, so hopefully it can handle being removed in like 3 weeks instead of like, tomorrow.
