I had the same issue first. You pull the red cap back away from the light, then the light will unplug. It might be a little stiff the first couple times, but loosens up and is way easier the more you use it. I have had mine for about 3 months and love it, I use it for everything.:thumbup:

I also went with the Makita Li-Ion. Batterys charge from dead to full charge in 15 minutes and last quite awhile. Plus they are lighter than other drills I have used in the past...
