    4700 sq ft Shop Project

The semi truck showed up yesterday with my Direct Lift/Atlas PV10 2 post lift. It is a 10,000 pound capacity lift that has arms that can be configured asymetrically or symmetrically. That was a big benefit for me, since I regularly will lift everything from small cars to heavy pickup trucks...

    Paint ideas?

I haven't pulled any of mine up yet, but I don't see how there could be any moisture problems with the RaceDeck design. The majority of the water just sits on top, hydrostatic tension only allows a little water to seep through. There are drainage channels built into the bottom of the tiles...

    Paint ideas?

I went with the REVolution which is the stronger version since I run a forklift on it several times per week. I think it is still overkill for my use though. I think the regular RaceDeck would hold up just as well, especially in a personal garage.

Would this be checkerboard overkill or allright?

I never looked at the MotoFloor since I didn't want black and white. From what I remember reading on here, it is still better quality than most plastic tiles, but it is not quite as good as the regular RaceDeck. MotoFloor is made by RaceDeck though. I don't want to post the pricing they gave...

Design is 95% done (Garage / bonus / mudroom)

Since you have an attached garage, I am assuming there is probably flexibility on the size from a zoning standpoint. My recommendation is make the garage as big as the zoning/budget/wife will allow. You won't regret going larger.

    "Another" insulation question, help please

I have very limited experience in insulation, so take my advice/opinion for what its worth :) This time last year I was insulating my 3200 sq ft shop in NE Ohio, I couldn't decide how much insulation to put in. At Home Depot the charts showed R19 for the walls and R30 for the ceiling for my...

    Paint ideas?

Simple answer - Go with the RaceDeck you won't regret it. For a 24x24 garage it probably will only cost $250-$300 more than VCT (with adhesive) and is much easier to install and will hold up better. If you floor isn't perfect underneath, it will show through the VCT. The RaceDeck will hide...

    Paint ideas?

Here are some pictures of my shop. I also prefer the two tone look. The dark color seems to hide marks better than the white, but with the white on top it still stays bright. The blue is a royal blue, although my camera made it look purple.

Let's See Your Snow Moving Equipment...

Here is my rig. It is a 2004 Explorer with a SnoWay 22 Series plow. It works out great for the places I plow, since they are all very tight areas. My previous plow rig was a 2004 F150 with 8' SnoWay, but I couldn't get to most of the areas I needed to plow with it. Most people would say the...

    4700 sq ft Shop Project

My advice is if you want a permanent paint booth, buy one, don't build it. I have seen at least 5 used booths on Craigslist in the last year for $1500-$2000. In the past 2 months though I haven't seen any, so I decided to go ahead and build one, since I will need to use it within the next...

    4700 sq ft Shop Project

The area that looks like a crack is from the morter being redone in that area. I am not sure why they redid it, but the entire front wall is very stable now. The building hasn't been painted for 15-20 years so any of those repairs could have been made awhile ago.

    4700 sq ft Shop Project

Thanks. I don't have a set deadline, but I was planning on having the walls finished/painted throughout the shop and having the paint booth functional by now. I need to get it done ASAP though, since I really need to start getting one of the Neons racing to race this spring. Buying a...

    4700 sq ft Shop Project

I got the safe from my uncle, he got it from a jewelry store several years ago. I do have the combination and have had it open. It needs to be sandblasted and painted, but otherwise it is in good condition. It weighs about 4500 pounds.

The front wall is actually fine, the picture is deceiving. The new block/brick is there because the cut the opening bigger to install a larger door. The flashing on the roof is longer right in front of the door, so it makes it look like the roof dips down, even though it is perfectly level.

    4700 sq ft Shop Project

I have been making some progress on the shop, but it is going much slower than planned. I thought the utility reconnections would be simple, but it turned out to be a big hassle. For some reason the power company decided to take 3 weeks to reconnect the power once they received the approval...

    4700 sq ft Shop Project

There definitely is plenty of dust to go around :) I think I got a great deal on the building. There were 3 recent sales $55,000 at the sheriff's sale 10 months ago (the bank bought it), $145,000 in 2006 and $300,000 in 1998. Based on the amount of the Sheriff's sale the recent appraisal was...

    4700 sq ft Shop Project

Well I think the old adage that you can never have enough garage/shop space is true. I just recently completely my 3200 sq ft shop project, the build thread is here: Build Thread The 3200 sq ft would be enough space, however since I started a motorcycle repair business in there it does start...

I race the Neon in a 4 cylinder FWD class. The cars are supposed to remain nearly 100% stock, but very few people actually stick to the rules.

    Garage planning questions

What is your budget? That will really be the key factor in determining what you can do. Everyone will tell you the most important thing is space, get as much as you budget/land/zoning will allow. Even if you think you have enough you will fill it up. Granted I have more "stuff" than alot...

    4 post lifts

I noticed you are in Canada, I wonder if they handle charge backs differently there than in the US? I have been in disputes with 10+ business that I filed charge backs on. In every case, the money was put back into my account right away, then the credit card company did their investigation and...
