1/2 Cordless impact, talk to me...

This is the one I have... Hated the rocker switch at first as well, but like anything new I got used to it an now it isn't an issue.

1/2 Cordless impact, talk to me...

I have the 18v 1/2" dr DeWalt XRP one, with NiCad batteries. I use it daily at work (heavy equipment) and haven't been let down yet. My best suggestions when running a cordless electric tool is to know it's limitations. I'm surprised by how long the batteries hold charge. One thing that I also...

    Universal Good/Bad Seller Thread

I used to visit another BB that had a classified section with a universal good/bad seller thread/sticky. I've searched and found ones for specific users on here but not one for everyone. The way it was set up is that if you felt a user was a good seller, you'd simply PM the OP and he would...

how could anyone let this happen?

Well, if someone ever busts into my shop and starts shooting, I'm jumping behind my co-workers' SO box... On second thought, I may be able to use this to my advantage with my wife. "But honey, it's protection in case someone goes postal in the shop!"

Gearwrench Open End Ratcheting Wrench Set

X2 on uselessness. I had the $20 craftsman set and gave them away. I do think the black plastic piece has something do do with the bolt turning issue, but I've never tried the type without. The offset ends also annoyed me, IMO they should be straight.

Why, what, when, where of Impact Wrenches

Do you own a compressor already? Its an added expense in case you haven't acquired one yet. But it will open the door to many tool options. Have you looked into electric impacts?

Looking for best bang for the buck in 3/8 and 1/2 impact sockets.

I bought the Cman 1/2" impact socket module for $199 and am satisfied with them. The module is 50 bucks less that the set, and if I recall the only thing you don't get is one swivel and one of the extensions. My only gripe thus far is that they only go to 1-1/16 in standard, and skip a few sizes...

    Costco toolbox

Guy I work with has one, workspace and box seems solid overall. A box this big doesn't move around a ton. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=77155&group_ID=20013&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

    Tools from the old world

I'm in the US, which probably explains why I know nothing of this. It seems damn old, but who knows. Would it be considered a "Tool for the old world?" Collectibility?

Anybody use Craftsman raised panel wrenches?

Same here. I avoid the sharper cut edges of some truck brand wrenches. The CM ones feel just right in my hands. Although I grew up using them and honestly hadn't heard much about SO, MAC and Matco until I started wrenching in a civilian shop (the military doesn't buy truck brands normally). I...

Tool box organization-Metric and standard together or separate?

I prefer to have the wrenches in different drawers. However, I have the sockets mixed in the same drawer with SAE to the left and Metric to the right. Drive tools in the middle. 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 all in separate 40" drawers. I often need to mix SAE and Metric sockets due to the equipment I work on.

Is there something I'm missing here?

That IS an oustanding price. I only wish my bankroll could support that set right now. I know I would use the 1-2" stuff every week at work.

    RLYoung's Introduction

Hey everyone, I thought I would post an intro. I stumbled upon the site while researching some tools and have been browsing daily since. Looks like a great community and an awesome place to hang around. I'm from southwest Arizona, turn wrenches for a living, and build my offroad vehicles in...
