2024 Garage Sale Thread (13th Annual)

I wonder why a 45mm socket was ever made as the normal metric is 46mm. Anyway it was listed back in the late 60’s but not later. In reality it is near identical size wise to 1 3/4” but other dimensions and weight suggests it was a special forging.

Creative uses and projects for metal card files?

Here’s the system I’ve consolidated on, several generations from the same maker all interchangeable. Inside the drawers either plastic egg shell style organisers or a certain cutlery drawer liner giving 5 pockets. I was lucky to get a 1 trip hi-cube double door container so I always have...

Creative uses and projects for metal card files?

Depends as to how the drawers extract, straight out or have an obstacle ramp to negotiate? Probably need containers inside the drawers if similar items need to stay separated. At this size a full drawer should still be manageable but you have to take steps to avoid injury if wearing...

Looking at the list shows E suffix tools for Electricians. I’ve not seen any shown in the catalog and none seem to have been offered up yet. Checking my steadily growing Q-W collection reveals 3 examples, here’s what they are.

More than just adjustable wrenches, post up your vintage Crescent tools

The 6” is pre 1960 The 10” is post 60 style but more recent with the post forging ID stamping so say 1970’s The 12” looks to be the thicker heavy carbon steel style which continued in production after Crestoloy alloy was introduced in the early 1930’s but difficult to date. Unplated could be...

    Bedford whitworth england wrenches

A nice sequenced set from the smallest upwards wherein the next size up restarts with a repeat of the previous jaw size. It is usual for British nuts and bolts to have the same head sizing. The set shown continues for quite a few more sizes but if you don’t have them you are getting into...
