Couldn’t pass up this little guy new in the package. 25mm or slightly >1 inch to us freedom lovers.

    6.5" vs 7.25" circ saw

I have both in my shop. Definitely the smaller saw gets used more. Only for the fact I don't have to string a cord. The cordless saw is about the same weight with the battery (unless you're using a worm drive). I would think it depends on how much you use the saw all day and how many batteries...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

Dug through the $1 section at a sale I wrote off immediately. I found an old drill bit metal box full of taps, dies, and screw extractors. I took a chance on it. Almost all HSI(?), greenlee, and one other I couldn’t make out. All were marked USA. The last two pictured are some kind of Snap-On...

I put it in a tub of water and held it under as long as I cared to. It did not leak. Yes, I know it’s a watch case. I don’t need it to be waterproof I was more impressed with how thick the walls were. I have several pelican cases and this is only slightly less sturdy.

    Black & Decker Workmate

No great looking sales in my area. Got skunked at a couple cleverly disguised ongoing sales. I did find this case at a new home neighborhood. It’s not a pelican but very heavy duty and appears to be water tight. $10. It’ll find a good use soon.

Not tool related but I snagged this once used instapot for $10. It’s the big 8qt model.

Estate sales were pretty mediocre this weekend. I did pick up this Oakley backpack for $5. I have a similar newer one from them I like a lot. I had a really hard time finding anything about this model. It appears to be a pretty rare older model. Any Oakley experts here?

Sometimes you strike out, sometimes the free pile has some redemption, and sometimes you have to let the future Mrs. W bring home 45 lbs of free books. Today was all of those days 😂

    Garage Tool Value?

This one has been visited here on GJ before. Some helpful things I personally have taken away: One post said that he had everything itemized and priced accordingly. Very thought out and detailed. The response to this was a question on if he actually thought it was feasible for his elderly wife...

Most versatile type of bench grinder/sander for occasional jobs?

Exactly! There is no more versatile tool for sanding, polishing, and grinding. I do have mine on a variable speed grinder which helps a lot. I like the table for yours. Not to hijack, but do you have a thread for how you adapted it to a Cman block???

Hit a couple second day estate sales this morning. For some reason this German cigar mold told me to bring it home. Along with three full cans of cleaners. Not my best haul.

No, I think the one in Silverdale closed in the 90's. This looks like it was probably bought a while before that.

Hit an estate sale this morning. Not too much in the way of tools. On the second pass around I found the box with the base in it. Started immediately looking harder for the other piece. I found the 303 vise not far away. Both unused with all the paperwork in the boxes. $10 for both not too bad!

    Craftsman/Sears, Vise ID by Catalog

Welcome to GJ! That’s a pretty rare vise you have there! They only made them with that craftsman badge for a very short run in the 1940s. Referred to on this site as a Reedsman. (Craftsman made by the Reed manufacturer) The handle ends are usually peened on when red hot. Why do you want to take...
