2025 Garage Sale Thread (14th Annual)

I hit several sales today. No big ticket items. I’ve been looking for a second workmate to go with my 400. This one is a type E I believe. Some nice thick leather cutoff, a nice heavy steel drop, and an almost full gallon of mineral spirits all for $8 combined.

I stopped at an estate sale on the way home. Not much room in my saddle bags but this was all I wanted. I got a good price on a bundle. Kroil, brake cleaner, Balistol, JB Weld and some brazing rods for way less than the price of any one of them.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I'm working on an Oswego 24-1/2 right now. Yes, it has a collar with a set screw like most other styles. Mine does have a big washer behind the spindle head. It definitely isn't 1/2" thick though. It's just a regular washer.

Both my 104R and 204R have a similar chipping under the jaws. I'll take some pictures when I get a chance. I don't think that's a repair.

I hit an estate sale this morning. Picked up the 104R and I’m not sure if it’s a RI 584 or 594. The casting is pretty rough. The RI had some possible owner made copper jaws screwed right over the steel inserts. I’ve never seen that before. I’m not sure if they are maybe factory??

Had to go down about 2 miles of dirt road in my freshly washed truck but the pair of vises for $50 was worth it. Rock Island 4-1/2” and Reed 4”.

I snagged this very nice GE vintage fridge on marketplace for FREE. Thanks to the guy before me that wasted his time. It was bought new around the 40s he said and been in the same place in the basement ever since. He had already brought it up for the previous guy lol. I just backed up and loaded...

It’s been broken on the tip. It’s not hollow for the length. Just the first two inches if that helps

I bought this for $7 I was thinking it’s not a horn. I’m not sure what’s the legality of owning it?

Went to a big neighborhood sale on Saturday. Lots of sales but not great inventory. I did get these Ray-Ban Predator 2 polarized glasses for $10. When I paid he said he only wore them twice and were too narrow for his head. Over $230 on Amazon right now. I did the YouTube check for authenticity...

Netted a pretty nice Columbian 504 with some homemade jaws. They’re a little rough but the rest of the vise is very nice. You can’t deny the durability of Columbian vises!

It definitely had the correct tint to it. Funny thing I passed on another gallon that smelled off at the next sale.

Didn’t expect much today. I hit a church fundraiser sale full of harbor freight stuff. I landed the basically new Vaughn 21” super bar, Irwin screw extractors , and a complete set of bondhus Allen wrenches for $20. Across the street was a “quilting sale” I accidentally walked to. A very nice...

Eron 150 6” vise. I thought it was British but it’s Japanese lol. Not terrible for $45.

I grabbed this 6” Eron 150 thinking it was one of the British made units. I guess it’s Japanese. Oh well for $45 it doesn’t seem too bad. Not a ton of info on here about these
