Why are American's tool boxes so big?

I'm not trying to dis you or your shop. If I had the time now I would get further into what I was trying to say, and I thin k you would mostly agree. As it stands now I have 6 1/2 hrs until I have to get up for work.

Why are American's tool boxes so big?

I use the term a bit differently, so your question is very valid. When I see damaged, improperly tightened, missing hardware/fasteners, damaged parts, leaks, rattles, CE lites on a recent repair that's what I am talking about. Most of the time the problem stems from the tech not taking the time...

Why are American's tool boxes so big?

One thing I took away from that thread is that many of the top techs have left the trade for better paying elsewhere, thats one reason why wages in the industry seem low. One of the funniest [maybe not so funny] quotes: "I SCAM WARRANTY TO FEED MY FAMILY" Now is that guy a bad or good tech...

Why are American's tool boxes so big?

Ya they ***** but there is some good info in that thread, if you read it [i know it's long, and 7 years in length as a matter of fact] there are more than a few guys who take the opposite viewpoint. Anyways, the young bucks just out of tech school need a place to vent.

Why are American's tool boxes so big?

Well, I understand you but isnt a corrupt industry though? With flat rate killing it for the customer and the technician, there's almost no way to make good money unless you are being fed good work, in with the in crowd. For me I have no problem with that, because that's life and it conforms to...

Why are American's tool boxes so big?

I'm a general mechanic, as it goes, but have a good background in Imports so while I have tools for Jap/Euro I have to cover lots of other ground as well. I have one 4" x 36" drawer for brakes, one for cooling systems, one full of pullers and one for bearings and seals. Then 1 for metric sockets...

Why are American's tool boxes so big?

My boxes combine at about 8 feet wide, [2x 40" boxes + side cab] I don't think of it as big, per se, but fits my needs. Some of those needs are quick access to supplies, we have nut and bolt bins but they are on the 2nd floor of the shop [don't ask why, Lol] as we make commission and time is of...

Rod saw blades: when/where/how were they developed?

I stumbled onto these while talking to a friend of mine. After a few searches online I haven't been able to find out when these blades came into being. I know about core drills and now I've learned a bit about carbidizing but dang, when I heard about rod saw blades [which can cut bricks, cast...

Try Stanley STA67546, they even have striking caps. I got a Husky flathead some years ago, [red handle] I have yet not been able to destroy.
