Sketchup allows you to import Google Map data.

    Danmar d-7 safety locks

As mentioned, you have routed the cables incorrectly. Check the diagram in the manual again, and note how the cable passes through the lock.

Do I have enough room for a hoist?

I have one in my 2-car garage, which is 24x26x10. If your cars are not tall, then you can use it for storage. Not ideal, but it is workable. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=201680 For your garage, I would look at the narrower 4-posts, such as the HD-9ST or Dannmar...

    Tilting lifts?

I would be concerned that it is not lifting the vehicle at the approved lifting points. Might end up bending the chassis. Also, the tilting feature would freak the hell out of me. I would never get under that thing.

    Three car 26ft wide garage?

Only reasonable way of getting 3 cars is to put a 4-post lift in it.

Why am I having so much trouble with SketchUp?

What specific problems are you having? I have dabbled in a number of 3d modeling programs and I find Sketchup to be quite easy. Some general hints are to take advantage of layers, and group objects that you want to remain separate. In other words, say you create the shell of your garage...

In need of garage door style advice... first post

Personally, I would think something more modern, such as glass and aluminum door, would fit the house better.

how much weight can a hinged wall hold?

An update on my little project. Finally built it after taking your comments into consideration. I did try using a caster, but found out that my floor isn't quite level, which caused the caster to bind when trying to swing the wall, so I removed it. This is what I ended up with: I will...

    New Garage Build, need input.

Re: New Garage Build, needs imput. Something isn't adding up. 22x26 is well over 500 sq ft. I would double-check with your zoning authority on whether those dimensions are allowed before you do any more planning.

What is the Downsize to Oversized AC

Doesn't a variable speed unit avoid the downsides of an oversized unit? That is what I was told when I was researching heat pumps during my new house construction. I eded up with a 3 ton Carrier Greenspeed heat pump, when a 2.5 ton unit would have probably worked. It certainly has no problems...

Looking for a GOOD electric pressure washer

I went through a number of cheap electric washers, none of them lasting more than a year. I eventually bought a Kranzle washer, and it has held up fine for the past 2.5 years. I use it mainly for washing the cars. It is only a 1600 psi unit, but that is good enough for washing cars.

how much weight can a hinged wall hold?

I have a 16'x12' shed in the back yard that I use for storage and a workshop. I'm finding that the garden tools take up a lot of space on the walls, so I thought about making a small hinged wall to increase wall storage. This is a picture of the corner of the shed that I use for storage: My...

    Bendpak 4 post help needed

When I had mine installed, installer just ran the cables without retracting the slack safeties. When you raise the lift the first time, the slack safeties will retract once the cables become taut.

    Favor to ask / Sketchup

OK, how about this. You need to redo the roof, but if you vault it (or at least the area under the lift), you should still have enough room. I had to shorten the addition by 2' but hopefully it will still give you enough room especially if you can remove all or most of the current front wall...

Another attempt. The pitch of the addition is shallower, around 3:12. This would give you at least 14' ceiling.

Yeah, it really is awkward to raise only a part of the roof. This is what I came up with. An alternative is to extend the roof addition all the way back, basically raising the height of most of the garage, but at that point you might as well just tear everything down and rebuild.

New bendpak lift, a couple of issues

Garage is 24' wide x 26' deep, with an 18' door. It's a comfortable size for a 2-car garage. Of course, I would have loved to make it bigger. Given the width, the Rev. M of the hd-9 really is a perfect size for the garage; not too narrow like the hd9st, not too wide like the standard hd9...
