    Mini-Split Heatpump

The system I have been quoted is not cheap but it is about 25% less expensive than a forced air gas furnance with an air conditioner unit and ductwork. I understand the mini spilt is also more efficient.

Looking at a Halcyon Mini-split heat pump to heat and cool a 1500 sf, 12' ceiling open shop. Plan to use 3 power heads with the ability to add-on 1 power head in the future if I add walls for an office. Anybody have any experience with the Mini-Split in a shop application...

    High ceiling attic stairs ??

If you spacing is oversized at 30", you could frame in a smaller opening and use the Werner 12' ladder. This ladder uses a 25.5" x 64" opening. I found the best price for the Werner 12' ladder was a Lowes special order. Cost is $345 and no shipping cost if you pick up at the store. I also got...

    High ceiling attic stairs ??

logical I have the same situation with my shop which has 12'-4" ceiliung height and pre-enginnered trusses at 24-inch spacing. I like the idea with attaching 2x12's along the outside of the trusses to creat the 25.5" opening. Did you run into any clearance issues with the ladder and the 24"...

Check out the Red Max. I have a 7001 backpack blower and am very impressed with its power. When you do your comparisions between blowers, look at the CFM spec.

    Any recommendations for power generator?

I have the same power needs as you. I had a transfer switch wired in and purchased this Yamaha. It has no problem running my 3 HP well pump and other appliances. I also have the option to take it with me when power is needed away from home. http://www.yamahagenerators.net/yg_d.htm?

    Bustin' Nuts...

How about grinding down the exposed threaded bolt to the top of the nut. Then get a small drill bit and drill a hole down the center of the bolt working from the nut side. After the small hole is drilled, increase the drill bit size to enlarge the hole size. When the hole is large enough, you...
