    use common sense european method to cross cut and understand grain stress in thicker/wider materials. you'll be fine. i have a big 1 that travels 24", a real lumberyard saw.

    extreme load on roof directly above these rafters, my guess a pallet of roofing shingles as he had roof recent redone. could also be debris container placed there.

    you think this "sagging/flat" is caused by these dropped rafters? looks you got newer plywood/osb sheeting over the old roof boards, your drip line detail may be compromised, no over hang, right?

    original sheeting nailing is holding rafters left to right, they ain't gotta be tied to joist, look how long they haven't been. don't need any blocking between anything, you need to lift. I'd put a long new 2x plate in (on top of joist) from this end to a point that the rafters are bearing on...

    some kind crazy balloon framing i ain't seen b4. i note no overhang/eave, unless applied on sheeting outside. that board bearing the seat cut looks like soft eastern pine, you may be able to jack rafter up off 2 joist and replace that broken board. like asked above are all like that?

    i stumble thru a explanation of that base the best i could in the video. it basically provides pressure to the switch and bleed itself so motor doesn't start againist pressure. no drain petcock there.

    because old & obsolete now, there are collectors for repulsion-start induction-run motors out there. imagine that. psa, know your pressure tanks condition, look into hydro testing it. its can be a bomb! "killer" "littleboy"
