    LED flood lights

Got mine at Lowes, Utilitech brand, think they are something like 20 watts. This picture doesn't do justice to how bright they are in person.

    HemiRamOn22s Shop & House Build!!

The spray foam insulation is a great call, we used it in all the walls for our house (completed in July 2014). There is a noticeable difference in how quiet our house is inside, there is a complete lack of drafts and our electric bills are 20% lower than one of our neighbors who used...

    D.TRECE - Garage + House

Two sets of torsion springs and a Rube Goldberg chain drive between them? No way that could poossibly go wrong in some YouTube worthy fashion. Seriously, as I've said before this place is spectacular and your attention to detail is beyond even my OCD....but that garage door opening system...

    Does it get easier?

I taught myself a lot of DIY skills by buying a house that needed renovation and then buying (no I'm not kidding) the Time Life book on home projects. Doing things the first time was intimidating but by following the directions and thinking things through by taking my time generally good...

    Z-Wave Switches

Lowes support was good for IRIS, allowing me to get the system up and running letting me move on to screwing up the programming quickly. My "scenes" (where you turn on multiple lights together with one button push) are really good at turning things on but then I have to turn them off one at a...

    Z-Wave Switches

I'm running Lowes Iris (V2 hub) with GE Z-Wave switches and outlets. It works well once you get it set up but each switch took 30 minutes to pair. I started by pairing the switch closest to the hub and went out from there. Haven't needed the signal boosters (I bought 3 on clearance) yet but...

AndrewK's Metro Detroit Urban/Infill Garage Build Project

Re: My (New) Neighbors Probably Hate Me...But That's Okay - My “Dream” Garage Build Looks great, as a former SE Michigander (95 to 07) I like seeing the inner suburbs coming back to life. We lived in Franklin, not too far from Royal Oak and used to eat at the Red Coat Tavern all the time. I...

    My House/Garage - Tasmania/Australia

Great view from your plot, are you doing one or two stories? If planning will let you, an upside down layout (bedrooms on the ground floor, living rooms above) would be awesome. Those Corollas always reminded me of a Datsun 510, it might be fun to do one as a spoof of the old Newman Sharp...

Replacing an LED can light bulb that is 20 feet up

I'd have to go thru the shingles, roof decking and insulation to do that. :)

Replacing an LED can light bulb that is 20 feet up

Thanks guys, I'll try one of the Grainger ones--the one at HD had a suction cup that was pathetic.

Replacing an LED can light bulb that is 20 feet up

When we built our house a year and a half ago I had the builder put in LED bulbs in all of the can lights throughout the house. One main reason for doing that was so that I wouldn't have to get on a tall ladder to replace bulbs as often. Like all well laid plans, this went awry-- I have one...

    House Build w/ 3-car

Love how your builder keeps a clean job site, most of the ones around here look like Fred Sanford's yard on a bad day.

Above 1200 Sq/FT Casa de Frijolee - SoCal to Hawaii - gear head style

Re: Casa de Frijolee - a Gear Head's 2-car garage Nice shop, I struggled with many of the same clearance issues for pipes when I insulated and drywalled the garage in our house in Michigan. I wound up exposing a gas pipe and having a plumber relocate some pipes. Interested to see how this...

Garage Mahal Build in Brenham Texas (BlueBell Counrty)

Looks great, I'm jealous of all that space but then you can never have enough garage space. Just had some of the new Blue Bell and I'd forgotten how good that stuff is, it makes other ice cream seem like Ice Milk.

    Hoffman Werkstatt

I hear you on the Porsches marking their territory, if I don't drive my 928 for a few weeks it pees a little ATF on the floor.

Keep it up, glad to see that you joined a support group. My Sister In Law has the same affliction but won't acknowledge it.

Looks great Harry--as for the additional lights, I'm not sure there is such a thing as overkill when it comes to garage lighting. If anything, I wish I'd added more in my garages.
