    Backyard shop

It has been a really long time since an update, but here is what I have been up to..... Building is fully insulated with R13 bats in the walls, and blown into the attic. Then I finished up the walls and started onto the masonite cieling panels. (Still trying to decide what color to paint it)...

    Ganging 220V outlets into conduit..HELP

I can add another leg to the run, which is what I plan to do, it is just a pain because I have to go over the garage door, that is a pain. My plan is to add another leg to the conduit for two seperate 220V plugs on one wall, and run the other three on the same circuit. Then divide the shop...

    Ganging 220V outlets into conduit..HELP

OK, yes I do want to run everything "to code" for sure. When I originally talked with my electrician he speced the 1" EMT due to the amount of wire I would be installing. The actual amount of wire I believe was enough for 3/4" but he suggested the 1" to make sure I had "extra" room to make the...

    Ganging 220V outlets into conduit..HELP

OK, let me expand on this just ot be clear, and I appreciatte your help. I have run 100' of 1" EMT, and have installed 18 4" boxes into the run. I am going install 6 110v circuits with multiple plugs in each, and 5, 220V "welder" outlets. I guess my question is this. For the entire run I...

    Ganging 220V outlets into conduit..HELP

I am currently wiring up my shop and using EMT conduit, I have a question for an electrician. I have run 1" EMT all the way around the peremiter and have starting pulling wires for both the 220 and 110 outlets. Can I "share" the nuetral for all 5 220 volt outlets (30 amp welders) like I can...

Garage doors- what do you folks recommend?

DBCI, Rolling sheet door. Great price....great doors....and you don't loose any headroom. They are pretty easy to install yourself as well.

Help yourself, I would have prefered to find some "used" roofing for the walls, but I have been looking for a while and just had to bite the bullet and go with brand new.....it does make the place really bright.

I think if you figured everything into the price....mud, primer, and paint....then the roofing would be only slightly more expensive (probably around 10 percent more) But if you factor the labour, then the tin is alot cheaper....this is not the first shop I have done like this, I will post soe...

Funny thing is, my wife made a comment the other day that I am payng more attention to the details in the garage, than I do when I work in the house.....priorities I guess......ha ha

Sorry for the delay in updates guys, I got busy at work and also had to recover (financially) from the first part of the build. So with all the grading done, I can finally start on the inside... It starts with insulating the walls and putting up vapor barrier.... Then I painted the trim...

New build: Arts & Crafts style garage in historic neighborhood

The attention to detail is amazing in this garage, I know how you feel about having tons and tons of ideas storing up over the years. It really shows that you spent time thinking everything out.

I have an overall height of 15'6" at the peak....so yeah I could put a lift in, but if I do it will be one of those "rolling" lifts so not to loose the floor space.

    Backyard shop

Sorry for the delay in updates guys, I have been dealing with the grading issue that I created by sinking the shop into the ground. The wall is 70 feet long and steps from 5' high to 3'10" I worked a deal with the contractor that poured my slab that I would buy all the retaining stone from him...

    Backyard shop

Door showed up yesterday, and honestly I was going to take a day and install it myself. But once I priced the rental of the forklift to make the install easier, it was within 50 bucks of having it done by a pro.....so I had them do it for me. I choose the rolling door to give me more head...

    Backyard shop

Alot has gotten done in the past few days... Brickers finished up and it looks GREAT!!!! Then the aluminum crew shoed up and knocked it out in less than a day.... The door still has to be changed over to a "garden style" door just to improve the looks of the "porch" look. Door should...

    Backyard shop

Proabably not, if I do it will be one of those Backyard Buddy lifts that can roll around. If the building was bigger I would consider a lift but for what I do the floor is the best solution... I would rather take the cash I would spend on a lift and put it into a crane setup from Kundel...

Before the slab was poured they poured footing for the slab, 6" wider than the slab to act as a brick edge....

Brick guys came today and I ordered my door...18 foot wide, 9 foot high insulated rolling door from DBCI. Started laying out the electrical on paper so I could come up with the shopping list, and ordered the steel to build the "gantry" for the crane! You can see that they are doing a great...
