Truck advice - school me on pre-Super Duty ford diesels

Yes, they can be built to handle a lot of power, just like a C-4 behind a gasser. In the stock configuration, we ate them up like smoked ribs. Except the smoke was transmission fluid. Stock E4ODs, I feel, are a time bomb. Sometimes you get lucky. I had a 6.0 diesel giving me a bunch of...

Truck advice - school me on pre-Super Duty ford diesels

Another good site, but it has gotten very commercialized. It still has some good info. Please do not buy a 6.0! http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/

Truck advice - school me on pre-Super Duty ford diesels

I have had 6 Ford diesels, from the 87 6.3 to a 03 6.0. I recently sold the 03 and bought a 99 with a 7.3 Powerstroke and a 6 speed. I have driven ambulances/FD medic units with these engines since the late 80s. Of the earlier Fords, the weakpoint was the E4OD. We were getting less than...

Anybody use a home depot insulation blower?

I rented one a couple of weeks ago. As someone said, a garbage can full of hose, and we were good to go. We modified some plastic pipe to make a smaller tip, as we were putting it into walls in the garage as well. But there was plenty of hose for the attic. Two man operation, gotta feed the...

CORNWELL TRUCK - Los Angeles ?

Agreed. There is a guy running in an area East of Tacoma WA. Nice guy, nice tools. Waaay better than the older Cman stuff I have. His service for the one issue I had was fast and friendly, and I am no pro.

I Got a NEW Stanley Vidmar Tool Cab Cheap! :) It Sat In the Rain! :(

Go to an auto-body supply store. I forgot the name of it, but they have some stuff that smells acidic, and works like a champ. It turns the rust black. The last time I bought some, I had forgotten the name also, but they knew. Nice score!

Glad to be Alive... Close call...

I see these types of items every day I am at work. They are the life alert neck penants. "Help, I've fallen and can't get up!" They may look kinda funny, but not if you need them. Perhaps there could be a garage journal version, or a Snap-On version...or Harbor Freight. Again, glad you are...

Glad to be Alive... Close call...

If I was on the way to that with my dept, 90% of the time that is fatal before we get there. God was looking over you. Nice work from local EMS! Good luck with the healing, glad you are still with us.

The new ( to me ) truck is here pic heavy

Sweet ride! My friend that is a Snap_On dealer here in WA drove the wheels off of his old truck. Watching him get that new truck was a lot like a guy getting a brand new Snap-On box! He went Ford chassis with a Cat and a manual.

    Crazy/Stupid things you have seen

I work for a fire dept. We responded to call of a Motor Vehicle Accident, (MVA). Turns out that two ladies had a short bed F150 loaded with waaay over a yard of topsoil....wet topsoil. Took off down the street and they said "the faster we went, the worse it got. We thought we could drive out...

    What's a good heater setup for a 20x20 2-car?

My father-in-law has an uninsulated pole building as a shop, three bays. He put up OSB, but I am sure he did not insulate it. I stored my Mustang in there for about 4 months one winter and he used on of the propane torpedo heaters. I had surface rust on bare metal, and I though I had lost a...

    What's a good heater setup for a 20x20 2-car?

You are right, the propane thing was useless in my garage as well. I got a fairly large portable kerosene heater. Here is a link to one that looks like it, but mine is a different brand.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KKO33A/?tag=atomicindus08-20 It heats may 3 car garage to a point where I have...

    Sooo....Whats your radio?

I bought a Sony amp and AM/FM receiver with surround sound at a buddy's pawn shop for 45 bucks. A set of Bose 501s (or something like that) for 50 bucks, and added an ipod dock. An old DeWalt job site radio follows me around the yard when needed. Yup, pawnshop as well. I hope to add...

I bought a Wright ratchet and it is one of the best I have ever owned. I will have more of them in the future. I am no pro, but I know what I like.
