    Get your act together, Sears

Yeah when I first got into using handbooks everyday, I was told they were on par with Snap-On and the like. Boy, was I wrong.

    Get your act together, Sears

so when I first started in the shipyard, I bought most of my tools from Sears thinking Craftsman was top of the line. One of the things I bought was a alignment too and punch set, one of which is a 1/8" punch. Friday at work, I used it for the first time in almost a year of owning it and...

You ever get a deal so GOOD you feel BAD...?

I'd feel bad to a point. Like it's been said before, kind of depends on who the seller is. If they know what they have, then yeah, I don't feel bad. But if it's someone who just honestly doesn't know, I'll throw in some extra, within reason, if I have it. But I usually don't take much more than...

Why/how does bolt size effect impact wrench torque?

Cause bolt size determines How much torque the bolt can handle. It might be rated at 1100 ft/lbs on a 5/8ths bolt. But 1100 ft/lbs might snap a 1/2 inch bolt, so you can really get a rating from that. That's be my guess.

    The best adjustable wrench

    Show your new tool arrivals

I'll have to take a picture tomorrow, but it's a brand new in the package. Armstrong 1 1/8" long combo wrench. Almost felt bad buying it for $17.50. Seller didn't know what he had.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, y'all. Where at in Chesapeake are you located? I thought Gearwrench was subpar to craftsman, sort of like a cheaper version. I guess I was wrong.

    Ratcheting wrenches

For the price, you can't beat them. The 9/16 ratchet wrench from HF only broke when I used it as a slugging wrench in a fairly tight spot. Plus, I think HF has good warranty.

    New guy in Virginia

Hello, all. I'm Tom. I'm 20 years old and am currently an outside machinist at Lyon Shipyard (just a local, privately owned, commercial shipyard; tugboats and the like) but will be starting at Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a marine machinery mechanic (fancy government way of saying outside...

If you could do it all over...

If I'd known I'd be where I'm at now, I would'nt have bought those 3/8" drive Kobalt ratchet and socket sets. I'd have invested in much better wrenches and sockets like Proto, Armstrong and Snapon. I buy Craftsman now since even though the quality has gone down, it's still more convenient to...
