Plastic gear repair (is JB Weld strong enough)

Take the gear to your local hobby shop (a real hobby shop, not Hobby Lobby), chances are they can match it or get really close. I had some gears to replace on glo-bowl lights, co-worker went to the local hobby shop and came back with an exact match to the plastic gears. Cheap and easy.

    Maintenance mechanic here

As of June it's been 29 years as a maintenance mechanic for me. A little over 24 years working in bowling as a mechanic...machine maintenance, electrical, electronic, carpentry, plumbing, hvac, etc.. I don't know it all but I know enough to fake knowing it all. You can get a lot of experience on...

    knives work and carry.

I have a collection full of knives, not gonna use them for work. Don't give a **** about karma either. One of the best knives I ever used was a Schrade LB_8 Uncle Henry...loved it so much I owned 2 of them. First one I snapped the tip off, re-ground the blade and it lasted until I gave it...

    knives work and carry.

Okay, done. Any suggestions on a new knife, since I threw this one in the garbage? :bounce:

    knives work and carry.

Well then, just pretend like you didn't hear it and everything will be just fine. Opinions ***** sometimes, I know I have a lot of opinions that are off-the-wall and generally ****, but that's me, and I won't change for anybody for any reason. It's up to me to be me, it's not anybody else's...

    knives work and carry.

I don't have the loose money anymore to be using expensive knives at work. The priciest one I used was a Spyderco Police model, anything worth more than that stays in the collection looking pretty, where they belong. Well, that's not totally true, I carried a Protech Brend Model 1 for a while...

    knives work and carry.

So do I, but to be honest, it won't make me not buy it or use it. I can take the name off...whether the material survives or not is no big deal, I just don't want the name on there. I'm not a gung-ho "no clones" type of guy, but using the name is kind of a ***** move if you ask me. I made sure I...

    knives work and carry.

There's no way I'd carry a $400 (or more) knife as an EDC for work, not as a maintenance mechanic anyway. How about a Hinderer clone, cheaper and built pretty good. Using the maker's name though, I don't care much for that and as soon as I can figure out a way to remove it without ruining the...

    2014 Garage sale thread!

I like going to garage sales just because they're fun. The problem is that most of them out here are all kids clothes and random house ****, finding the tool boxes really was a miracle. The closest thing to that in the past 4 years or so was a sale that had a case full of boxes of brand new door...

    2014 Garage sale thread!

That's just the tools and stuff, there was a lot of hardware, most of it still in the packaging. Screws, eye bolts, angle brackets, hooks, etc.. It's all already sorted and put away so there's no way to get it all out for photos. It was a good haul I'd say...unfortunately the voices in my head...

    2014 Garage sale thread!

Here's some shots of some of the stuff that was inside the chest and roller... Screwdrivers, files, tire gauge, brand new set of glass cutter bits, etc.... Garage Sale Stuff 001 by Ed Durbin (Katodog), on Flickr Retaining ring set with random tips, Vise Grips, long-reach needle-nose...

    2014 Garage sale thread!

I know where they come from, that's not the problem. The problem is that I can't find any that have diamond-plate on the drawers and a "Husky" Pro" logo. The nearest thing I found was something similar to the roller that had feet, and the "diamond-plate" on it was cheesy stamped metal, and...

    2014 Garage sale thread!

I didn't take any shots of the tools, haven't taken the time and I already have them mixed in with my stuff. Got a couple of Vise Grips that were in great condition, around 10 screwdrivers, mostly Craftsman, around $100 dollars or more worth of ratcheting tie-down straps, around 10 decent...

    2014 Garage sale thread!

Didn't know this thread existed. But, then again, I also haven't found anything good at garage sales in a long time. Except for this past Sunday, when we hit a garage sale by the house and I grabbed this Husky Pro chest and roller for 60 bucks, including the tools and stuff inside... 60 Buck...

I thought it was pretty genius when I thought it up, dragged the wife into the garage to show off how smart I thought I was. She wasn't impressed, but then again there's not much in the garage that'll impress her unless I'm building something or fixing something...for her. She was pretty...

I used the old NiCad battery shells, took the battery cells out and screwed a couple of drywall screws through the bottom of the cabinet into the shells. I figure since the NiCads **** after so many years and having to keep tossing them, I'd at least get my money's worth and use them for...

It was nice just to get the chest and roller, all the stuff that was in it made it a much better find. Tons of ratcheting tie-down straps, bunch of screwdrivers and files, vise grips, sockets, all kinds of stuff. Tons of hardware, most of it still in the packaging. Made out like a bandit on this...

Bought this set for $60 at a garage sale today, full of random tools and stuff. Just got done emptying it out, got probably $100 worth of tie-down straps, good ones too, and roughly $100 or so in screwdrivers, sockets, vise grips, etc.. There's a ton of still-in-the-package screws, eye bolts...
