Drill press, maybe a Craftsman? Any good?

I bought mine a few years ago for $150. Restored it and added a homemade low speed conversion setup and have been using it ever since.

Pretty cool sanding block. Cheap too!

I felt this was worth a post. I needed to block sand my entire '54 Ford Customline. Standard blocks are fine for flat panels but most '50s cars have lots of compound curves. What to use? PVC pipe came to mind but it's too rigid. While contemplating, I heard the grandkids in the pool. I...

Anyone know what these are called and where to get them?

They came with my HF portable garage. They hold the roll-up door in place. They're elastic with a plastic ball on the end. You can wrap the around a round object (like PVC pipe) and they'll hold in place. They'll work perfect for another project I'm working on. I need to know, at least, a...

    Sheetmetal **** welding gap?

I always leave about 1/8" gap. It's never a perfect gap but a good rule of thumb. Any wider and you'll concentrate too much heat trying to weld the wider gap. After a few tacks, cool the metal down with compressed air. Initial tacks are 1" apart then the second round would be every 1/2"...

How Clean Should a Funnel Be?

Mine sit and drain in the funnel rack. If I notice any dirt accumulated on them, I give 'em a quick shot of Simple Green and a wipedown before use............

    Quality of Channel Lock screwdrivers?

Hit the Sacramento Swap Meet today. Finally starting to get back to normal! Nothing for the car but I did come away with this 7-piece Channel Lock screwdriver set for $20 out the door. I know they're not Wera or Snap-On but for $2.85 each I couldn't complain...

    Show me your built mailboxes!

Not mine. Guy was tired of kids destroying his mailboxes with baseball bats so he sunk a steel post 4' into concrete and built this cage. It'd take a howitzer to kill this one!

Any value to this old neon sign?

About 30 years ago I grabbed this from the basement of an old Chrysler/Plymouth dealership that was closing down and had been in business since the early '50s. Some of the letters are broken and it's filthy dirty. I think it can be repaired but is it worth it? I'm cleaning out my shop so if...

    DIY RaceRamps/Wheel Cribs?

2x4's screwed together. Cheap, simple and easy. These were twice as high when I was doing a lot of undercarriage work on my '54. When I finished, I brought it down to a more reasonable level simply by unscrewing the top few boards. https://imgur.com/JVKHJ6v

School me on sliding glass doors.

OK, I've had a couple of days to mull it over. Now I'm thinking, maybe just add an extension for the doggie door. We have one now and with an 8' wide opening, there's plenty of room to walk in and out. Lowe's has this one for $750...

School me on sliding glass doors.

The time has come for a new sliding glass door. We currently have a cheap aluminum one, original to our 45 year old California tract home. I installed a 10" wide extension on the right side with a doggie door to accommodate our two small hounds. Opening measures 96"W x 80"H. I'd like to...

    My old Reed 406

I can't help with the repair but I have a 406 and I luv it! Absolute workhorse! Mine was missing the swivel base too so I just mounted it, as is. Never had the occasion to use the swivel jaw either. The 6" Reed is a darn fine vice! $100 off of Craigslist!
