    Magnetic spark plug socket

I need recommendations on a decent magnetic 5/8" spark plug socket in the $10-$15 range. The one I have worked for like the first year but now the magnet hardly holds the plug in the socket. Kind of a pain when you have to slide the plug 5" down a hole on some of the newer cars and the plug...

tool bag for the junkyard, what tools?

The 1/2" to 3/8" adapter is so you can adapt 3/8" drive sockets to the 1/2" breaker bar thereby not having to haul in a bunch of 1/2" sockets.

tool bag for the junkyard, what tools?

12 point sockets are fine. Full 1/4" set and 3/8" set. 1/2" to 3/8" adapter and 1/2" breaker bar w/pipe extension. If going specifically for suspension pieces, Milwaukee Fuel cordless 1/2" impact driver and accompanying 1/2" 6 point sockets. Assorted phillips and standard screwdrivers...

    HF pressure sandblaster modification

Wow! 9 years later and this post is still relevant! I'm glad this info was able to help so many. I actually sold my modded HF unit for $150 and applied that towards a real sandblaster. This Texas Blaster has blasted 2 complete cars plus many other parts. It's a beast and does a super job!

    tube flaring tool?

Love my Cal-Van flaring kit. I've used it dozens of times! It goes up to 3/8" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AOTBVJQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Rustoleum spray cans - absolute garbage

Not a fan of Rustoleum simply because it takes a month to dry! I've found it to be about as durable as Krylon which dries in an hour. Cheaper too! I'm a big believer in power paint shakers also. My version..... an aluminum bar that bolts to the sawzall and a pair of hoseclamps. Works like a...

    Creeper Seat

I bought this one recently. Very happy with it! It's way cheaper than the HF stool and much better quality too. https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200672986_200672986

    Budget Vice advice

Here's some vintage vises in your area. All are older but high quality. IMHO, 4" is the minimum you should have. Minor cleanup and they'll probably outlast you! https://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/tls/d/rochester-craftsman-heavy-duty-swivel/7468158117.html...

    HF Surface Conditioning Tool

IMHO those surface conditioning tools are a waste of money. If you want to strip the paint on your car, you can achieve the same results in the same amount of time with the same amount of effort for far less money using BlackHawk strip discs.......... BlackHawk 4-1/2" strip discs Just chuck...

    Duct cleaning

Absolutely! 47 year old rigid sheet metal ductwork leaking like a sieve with deteriorating insulation. The flexible has a higher R value built in and properly sealed and upgraded delivers double the airflow of the smaller rigid lines. Not to mention, cost effective in my area.

    Duct cleaning

I had it done a couple of years ago. $350. If anything, it'll help alleviate any allergies you may have. The ducts were pretty filthy inside. It's best to have them cleaned once every 10 years or so. Ironically, as we speak, there're contractors in my attic space ripping out and installing...

Poll: If you had a small 'weekend shop' and were choosing just two vises, what two sizes would you prefer (excluding wood working vises)?

Yes it is! I think it originally had a swivel base but when I bought it, it didn't come with it. I just drilled 2 holes and mounted it to my welding bench. $100 off of CL. It's a beast and definitely a workhorse!!

Poll: If you had a small 'weekend shop' and were choosing just two vises, what two sizes would you prefer (excluding wood working vises)?

I build cars......hobby not a profession. A 4" Wilton and a 6" Reed meet all my needs from small intricate projects to big fabrication.

    Milwaukee 24” Breaker Bar

I've got a Craftsman 1/2" breaker bar from the '70s. I put a 2' pipe on the end and presto.............24" breaker bar!

    Pawn shop Portable band saw

I think I paid about the same for my Milwaukee 6230 several years ago that I got off of CL. I built a stand for it and have cut literally, thousands of pieces of steel with it! It continues to soldier on! Good quality tools. If you ever need repair parts for it, this is a good one...

Recommendations on a mechanics stool, please.

Wow! At $15, even with the $13 shipping charge, it's the same price as the obviously flimsy HF model! It's funny, HF compares their model to the same Ironton model. It doesn't have all the amenities I wanted but, at that price I may just go for it. Thanks jacked 72 for the hook up! HF...

Recommendations on a mechanics stool, please.

I'm 66 and tired of sitting on a milk crate. I figure after a half century of working on cars it's high time I get myself a comfortable stool to sit on! However, I don't want to spend over $100. I'd prefer a soft, cushiony seat with a small backrest. It needs to have a tray on the bottom and...
