More Whatzits--Can we make this the official Whatzit thread?

The fella who altered that gas cylinder probably envisioned something like this,, in the 50`s when surplus rifles were cheap and ammo too,, a few got "sporterized" although a better choice to start with would be the M1903

That is the gas cylinder from a US rifle M1 Garand that someone has altered (sporterized) removing the front sight protectors, the bayonet attachment lug and stacking swivel. It is only threaded on one end for the gas plug. made of stainless btw.

I couldn't resist the book cover leather and brass so I had to have it, I gutted the inside, which was mostly falling out anyways...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

I picked up this Huot 5 drawer tool chest in pretty good shape save some mice piss that made some slight surface rust here and there, I also got the dried up mouse in the box at no extra charge, otherwise nice which I think was great at $20. I have been looking and all the catalogs I find for...

Just for fun, if you are of a certain age- do you still have any of your first tools?

I have the good tools I got when young, not all were wise purchases back then. I have my high school metal shop hand made forged and heat treated screw driver that still holds up well, age 16 I think I made it. Oh and have many of Dad's tools of which I grew up with, he has since passed.
