Unbelievable - Unable to weld aluminum rod

Welding two rods together is not easy, agree with others you need a chunk of aluminum to run a bead on.

That old frame is packed tight with all that modern gear! It was 109 here in N. Cal today, pretty obnoxious. Been working on siding the gable on my house, can work till about noon, that's when the sun comes over the shade trees.

Paint question for body guys who know what they're doing

Yes Bill, exactly! If you don't have years of experience blending panels there's no way it's going to match up, that was my point. Sounds like the OP doesn't care if it is a perfect match so he may as well try. I just wanted to warn him about it.

Paint question for body guys who know what they're doing

I'm an amateur that's painted about 10 cars and I can tell you that if you are spot repairing the paint won't match the other panels. I have never had any luck spot painting, even on cars that I have painted, it doesn't match, it's an art that the pros make look easy. My best paint job is the...

This is a fan shroud I made from some old stainless I had laying around, used the homemade brake for it. The flange goes all the way around, made it with 2 pieces. This is on the old Stude project.

Unfortunately my old Cardomain build disappeared years ago, It's a 92 mustang 5.0, Ford racing aluminum heads, high lift roller rockers but stock cam, had to pass CA smog. T-5 manual gearbox, Thunderbird 7.5 independent diff. Did my own paint. I built it around 2001, took a couple years. It's...

This is my home made brake. It bolts to the 1/2 inch steel workbench extension. I only put it on there when I need to bend something. It's been very handy for a multitude of projects.

If the humidity is low it works fine at 95. Swamp coolers do not work in high humidity though. I'm northern CA and almost always works well here. Great for Nevada, Utah, Arizona. We don't go camping in super hot or super cold weather. If I did I would try to get a spot to plug in and use the AC...

This was a fun little project. I love swamp coolers so I made one for our travel trailer. We camp off grid quite a bit so running the AC is not an option. This pulls very little power, can easily run off the solar panel. I use an aquarium pump for the water and have a PWM controller on the fan...

Uncle Mel 1956 BelAir build & Roadster Shop Chassis 2024

I have a soft spot for the 56, it was my first car, 2 door Belair. 25 bucks from an Indian reservation when I was 15, built it with virtually no money. 265 bored to 301 with a 3 speed with electric OD. Wish I could have hung on to it.

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

The Hellcat swap engine bay is packed but it looks very nicely done. Got the interior to fit pretty good, the seats are kind of huge though. Don't care for the wheels compromise due to the track being too wide, a frequent problem with old car body swaps. I can't image the hours put into that car.

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

I had a great deal on a new Lexus a few years ago, drove a couple hours to pick it up and it had a nick like that on the front bumper. I couldn't do it, it's supposed to be new and perfect. I bought one at another dealer. Of course now the front has chips all over it, the windshield got a chip...
