    Whole house fan in Phoenix?

Yay or Nay? - Not an attic an discussion. Being very dry might make this an even better proposition? 100 degrees days now, but 70 at night. Would love to cool the whole house down to 70 so that everything is cooler in the morning and the A/C doesn't have to work as hard ( since the whole...

Travertile tile for patio - honed, polished, or tumbled? Do I seal it?

My paver guy can probably answer this, but want to get your thoughts too. Travertine seems to be one of the patio and yard go-to solutions here in Phoenix. - cooler and less slip when wet. I don't have a pool, but will be covering my patio and extended in to the yard another10-15 feet...

Squared or dog-ear pickets in enclosed framed gate?

I'm a go-with-the-flow kinda guy. So I tend towards traditional thinking. Thanks all.

Squared or dog-ear pickets in enclosed framed gate?

I'm replacing the wooden slats in my gate with composite pickets. They come dog-eared. Should I cut them square? Does the dog ear look out of place in the square framed gate with the triangle gaps at the top corners? I want to go with what is most traditional. Composite dog ear on left in...

Key turns freely in lock - doesn't enngage bolt.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled with it. It does work, kind of, as she described, but still hit or miss if you turn the key. - more like an old worn out lock that you have to jiggle just right to get it to work. She said she'll schedule service to look at it. I called Kwikset and they said that neither...

Key turns freely in lock - doesn't enngage bolt.

Just to clarify again. If I push the key just a little bit more, so I feel a little spring tension, and hold it like that it seems to work okay. This was their response.... Because of the nature of the locks and for security, when using the key, you must make sure it is pushed in all the way...

Key turns freely in lock - doesn't enngage bolt.

definitely calling them to have it fixed. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't some special feature that you have to push it in just a little bit further so it has that spring tension against it before it works.

Key turns freely in lock - doesn't enngage bolt.

Don't know if this is broken, working correctly, or an "undocumented feature"... Just got a security screen installed. When I insert the key it turns freely without engaging the bolt or turning the inside turn knob when turning the key. But, I found that there is a slight detente/spring...

No water coming out of the condensation drain.

Update - Sunday - 10% humidity, no drain Monday - 20%-25% humidity, no drain Today - 38% humidity. Turned down the AC when I got home from work (I set it at 85 when I'm away but it never came on today)and 2 hours later - water dripping! Thanks everyone for holding my hand through this.

No water coming out of the condensation drain.

Yes seems to cool off as quick as it ever did. I just didn't know if my ceiling is going to cave in from some unknown leak along the way. Once the drain line lead away from the air handler (or whatever) it's covered in insulation across the floor of the rest of the attic so I can't see it's...

No water coming out of the condensation drain.

Do I want to tape of that pipe after the p trap (is that a vent pipe)when I vacuum from the outside. The overflow pan is bone dry.

No water coming out of the condensation drain.

I lied about not worrying. The 2 things that are standing out as odd... Every neighbor I looked at has a steady drip - okay, I know every house is different even though they were all built in the last 3 months. Up to now (and that one time last week) I always saw water coming out a rate of 2...

No water coming out of the condensation drain.

9 years and I think I always see water coming out.

No water coming out of the condensation drain.

I understand this, but found it odd that until now there was always water dripping, and wanted to make sure that as long as there is nothing in the overflow pan that everything is okay.

No water coming out of the condensation drain.

Newly built house 3 months old, originally it always had a steady drip out of the condenser pipe outside the house when the AC was running. 2 weeks ago I noticed nothing coming out. Also nothing coming out the overflow pipe. Went up in the attic and the overflow drain pan (the one that sits...

Anyone lnow much about flagstone stepping stones? 1" or 1.5" thick?

If shifting / moving is the only concern, I'm not worried, especially if I twist them down a bit. I've had them before with no rocking issues, I just don't know how thick they were at my last house. I was more concerned with if the 1" would be too brittle when walking upon if not on a solid...

Anyone lnow much about flagstone stepping stones? 1" or 1.5" thick?

I want to make a non-solid walking path (the stepping stones will be spaced several inches apart in a random fashion, similar to the picture) through my gravel back yard. The gravel is about 3-4 inches deep. I may just lay them on top, or may clear them to that the stone are on level grade...
