    Help! Wrench stuck

A good stout 2x4 is your friend. And the sawzall suggestion is practical as well. And by the way, it is visegrip, not vicegrip.

My contractor screwed up my new slab. Need Help please!

I am surprised it took 25 posts to get a mention that floor drains are generally illegal. I hid one under a storage rack when I got a hint the inspectors were in the area checking. This was in a building built in 1930. OK then, but not in 1980 something.

Help me reinforce my mailbox post

I saw one that was destroyed, looks like a heavy truck hit it and was destroyed as well. I cannot envision some of those i have seen "rolling up". I know of at least one young woman who was killed. Her father has been on a campaign to eliminate them.

Help me reinforce my mailbox post

Hmmm... I wonder what the difference is when the state installs a guardrail termination with a heavy square plate on the end? Hit one of these at speed and you are a goner. Some are quite close to the road. Dangerous indeed. I do have a funny story however. Received $35 in the mail once and an...

    Grabbed another table-top drill press

Balancing the pulley seems like a worthwhile goal, but opposing set screws do not work well, they tend to loosen. Set screws at 90* is standard practice.

    What’s the deal with Townships?

Yep, Very common in Ny where I came from. Too many taxing authorities there as well, but the state keeps them hidden under their umbrella. Criminal for sure. That is why we moved to Tn.

    culverts

    knob & tube wiring

Very interesting thread, especially since the first house my wife and bought in 1964 was knob and tube all the way. The house was built by an electrician for himself in the late 1800's. When I remodeled a room I rewired it, hard to do as it was, as the wiring was so well done. The insulation was...

    ARC fault/GROUND fault confusion

I guess what is not clear to me is if AFCI is required on a lighting only circuit. (2017 code). I am trying to not have any issues with my inspection when I have it done. All in all, great information here, just trying to digest it all!

    ARC fault/GROUND fault confusion

Just finished framing up the basement and about to start on the wiring. In looking at the main panel upstairs I see there are AF/GF breakers for both kitchen receptacle circuits, and dishwasher. The office, master bedroom, kitchen lights, living room, gas range, microwave and garage lights are...

    Parts washer solvent?

I have used kerosene with some Gunk mixed in. That works very well. Unfortunately The Gunk cannot be found anymore. I have some left over from years ago. The only name I can come up with for the manufacturer Is Solder Seal, may or may not be right.

3/16 Tapcons are fine laterally I believe in concrete such as securing 2x's to floor, but for tall walls in my barn I used Redheads.
