rent or buy 500 gallon propane tank?

We do not own our tank. But it never occurred to us to buy a tank, we do not pay a lease charge. In fact our tank has not been filled in years, as we heat with geothermal and the only gas usage is for cooking. We did notify the supplier we did not need automatic delivery any longer. As I said...

    Fresh Air Intake (for house)

We have a sandwich panel house with hot water baseboard heat and an air to air heat exchanger. We found it is more effective to run it for 2 hours in the afternoon than for the same time at night. If it is not run, we do have condensation on our low E double pane windows. We only run it in the...

    Conductive Grease?

Several times I have wanted a conductive grease. I have checked several compounds and settled on graphite. None of the others had any conductivity at all.

Hanging wall sheathing second story / high up by yourself?

Also, I made cleats for the sheet to rest on while I nailed it in place, just L shaped blocks temporarily screwed to the wall at top of prior sheet.

    Copper pipe isn’t invincible

Copper installed in an office floor local to me only lasted a few years before it started leaking. Copper is not used in concrete anymore, as it is known to corrode.

Remember when it was warm enough to work in your garage?

My previous garage in NY has radiant heat in the floor. Always felt like summertime in there even if it was below zero outside.

    2' led fixtures

Went to Lowes and Home Depot to check out 2' LED fixtures, they do not have knockouts on the ends, only a provision for attaching an included 14" cord that will permit stringing lights together. 14" is not long enough. Apparently they are not meant to be installed flush to the wall with conduit...

    Old 1880 Barn Shop Conundrum

I went the shop in barn route, albeit on a smaller scale. Kind of a combination of using one bay of the barn and adding a second bay. A lot of physical work but cheaper than a new building. The ground floor is radiant heated concrete with a geothermal heat source. Most folks seem to be quite...

    Pluggable line voltage thermostat

Thanks tailshaft. Probably won't find one at Lowes or HD though. There is an electrical supply house locally however.

    Pluggable line voltage thermostat

Is there a line voltage thermostat available I can plug into an outlet and a cube heater into? The problem I have is in my garage bathroom in which I try to maintain about 60*, the differential is way too wide with this heater and a previous one. I guess I could install a thermostat and tie it...

Bench top - solid core door vs. 2x4s on edge?

I made two out of reject commercial steel doors. They have held up well. For anything really heavy like an engine, I use a very heavy table on casters.

Skid Steer - $15k budget - what to buy

I bought my NH LS160 used in 2003 with 303 hours (2002 machine). It now has close to 2000 hours. So far I replaced the battery earlier this year, otherwise just routine maintenance. I do have a problem for the last couple of years, one one side it leaks hyd oil into the chain case. I have to add...

Packing and Moving the Contents of Your Garage

Both ABF and Old Dominion will deliver pup trailers and let you load them, and pick them up when you are ready. Cost my buddy $2600 for two pups, 700 mile move. I have a 700 mile move to do as well, but I have a tractor trailer. I think it will take one trip for the shop and one for the house...

    TomC750 intro

Sorry for the delay on posting a pic of the truck, it is on a computer not available to me now. A pic of the nose is on the subforum of garage pics. A better pic will be posted in the future.

    TomC750 intro

My signon relates to a truck I restored many years back. I still own it, but maybe not for long, as we are relocating from NY to TN. Back to the truck, it is a '53 C750 highway tractor. I worked for a major corporation as a machine repairman and an engineer but without the degree. I always had...
