    The VISES of Garage Journal

If I needed a vise, to use, and the broken off base piece came with it, I'd offer the scrap iron price, maybe. Mule

    The VISES of Garage Journal

BFBOB, that little vise you bought and posted the pictures of, in post #12352, is nice. I have never seen one like it. The rear jaw sliding on the I-beam is sort of like it sliding on "V" ways, without gibs. Course, until I came across this forum, I never give much thought to a vise, other than...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Thanks BFBOB. Ducksface it is for go, not show, As is evident in my photo. I'm just getting cabin fever. It is cold and wet-wet out. I don't handle the damp cold like I use to. So, I dream. Mule

    The VISES of Garage Journal

autopts71045, you posted a picture of the polish vise you mentioned owning in this quote. It is a greenish color. If you still have the vise, is there any way you could find out what the color actually is? Maybe, a paint code number? Mine was that color, originally, and I would like to paint it...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

drivesitfar, this is mine. I still use it, just not as often as before my Garage became a storage building. Seems like a garage/shop that is not worked in regularly, becomes a place to drop things. At least at my house.

drivesitfar, the pictures are not of mine. I quoted o6wt's post. I have no pictures of mine. Maybe I need to take a couple. O6wt's vise is like mine, but our tool boxes do not resemble.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I have one. It has been in my family since the late '60's or early '70's. My Dad was in business for himself as a Mechanic. I did the same thing for a living. When he retired he gave the vise to me. It has been used hard and neglected, but still works as nicely as the day it was first mounted...

    Non hydraulic shop press?

It has been a year since the last entry here, but I just found this thread. I thought someone might be interested in this link. I would love to go through the museum. I have had a Weaver 28 ton Hi-Speed press in my Garage since 1989. When my Dad had to give up his Garage he gave the press to me...

    Hello from North East Texas

I made most of my living as a mechanic, except for a stretch [1974-1979] working for Brown & Root as a millwright. When I worked for other garages it was independent garages, mostly. I worked for a dealership, only once. I had my own garage twice. I am now disabled living off social security. I...
