Best method for removing concrete "overspray" for lack of better words...

Re: Best method for removing concrete "overspray" for lack of better words... Home Depot sells little Makita grinders, 4" for under $50 if I remember. They sell masonry grinding wheels for about $2.50. One or 2 will do the job. I use mine every day.

Tile Clad High Solids with Stripes and Art

Try Sherwin Williams Armorseal High Solid Polyurethane. I believe they sell it to the public. As others have mentioned, a clear coat is a must. Use a respirator as this stuff could bring down a rhino.

    Anybody PAINT a checkerboard floor?

It took 2 of us a long time to measure and mask just for this perimeter. I think it's easier to checkerboard the whole floor. After taping be sure to seal the tape line to avoid under bleed. I used my standard blue painters tape and had a lot of under bleed. I believe someone on this board...

    Floor Prep -Sanding & etching

Sanding is not sufficient. The best prep is diamond grinding or shot blasting. There are tons of threads on this topic.

    "RE" finishing garage floor question?

Home Depot tool rental has a floor sander and varying grit sandpaper. I always use the 36 grit when I have a nicely bonded floor to go over. I get about 100-125 sq ft per disc. They are about $6.50 per disc and the machine is approx $80 day. Works so well I bought a machine just to rough up...

Sudden Death: Epoxy-Coat vs. Wolverine Coating

Even if their primer, base and topcoat were all 100% solid and counting 3-5 mils for the chips, I don't think they get close to 60 mils.:headscrat

Best way to prep stem walls

Everybody is correct. I never prep stemwalls, unless the previous coating, if any is peeling. You'd be amazed at what a full chip floor can hide.

    Epoxy or VCT?

You will never need to wax an epoxy floor. All epoxy/urethane/polyaspartic floors without flakes or anti slip are slippery only when wet. Check with Wolverine or your supplier, maybe they have a satin finish, which will help a bit. As long as you apply it in the correct temperature range...

    Epoxy or VCT?

If you go with epoxy with chips, a clearcoat is just about mandatory.

Buying a grinder versus renting a shot blaster

The average in Az is about $1 sq ft. Labor appears to be cheaper here than in most parts of the country. I do it for less because my machine is pretty fast and there is virtually no hand work, as it gets to within 1/2" of the wall. I hate to take $ out of contractors pockets but make him/her a...

Buying a grinder versus renting a shot blaster

It's a Werkmaster Raptor 1600. Very pricey but it's FAST. I have only ground concrete with it no polishing etc. It's made in Canada so it's a bit of a hassle getting parts etc with customs and all that. I'm checking out Kutrite and National for a second machine. I think I can live with it...

    National Surface Prep Equipment Feedback

Do any of you pros know anything about this company? I have a grinder demo scheduled for this Friday but I would like to have real world feedback before I test it. They don't appear to be a major player, are they new? Thanks

Buying a grinder versus renting a shot blaster

BTW, I'm not trolling for business, grinding for DIYers is not high on my list of things to do, just trying to help.:bounce: I admire all you guys for doing your research.

Buying a grinder versus renting a shot blaster

Here's a photo of what a pro installer may have that can help you out. You can get a 3 car garage prepped in less than 2 hours, +/- depending on hardness.

Buying a grinder versus renting a shot blaster

You may want to call a few pro installers who have diamond grinders/shot blasters. There is a good chance they may have time to come prep your floor. I do this every now and then for homeowners who don't want to go through the hassle of what you are going through. The bigger and faster their...

    Flake Sizes

1/4" is as large as I go. I've seen larger however I personally don't like it. 1/8" looks great also. Broadcasting by hand is my preferred method. Do a dry run on your driveway to get the touch and look you like. Torginol and Chips Unlimited are two places to get your chips. Good luck!

Where to get black epoxy with white chips?

Agreed. One of my first floors was black with white/gray chips. To this day, still the ugliest floor I've ever done. I wish I had the photos to show you. All black with no chips would be Ok, but I like the white base with your choice of chip colors.
