Need a new Circular Saw, but what to get?

I have Dewalt stuff. Happy with it. I have 60v, 20v max, old style 18v saws in both 6-1/2 and 7-1/4 inch sizes. I find myself grabbing my 20v max 6-1/2 brushed and brushless saws more than any of the others. My point? Don't overlook the usability of the 6-1/2 inch saws.

what cordless 18 volt hacksaw is the most durable?

I have an M12 brushless. It is OK. I have mostly Dewalt tools. Given the choices or models presented, you might be best served with the Milwaukee. It has a longer stroke length than the Dewalt. At least in the ads I looked at. Generally, if I need a reciprocating saw, I grab the full size...

    50's craftsman color

Is that image "really" what the color looked like 50-70 years ago? How some sample of paint weathered in half a century or more would be hard to say. It may have been far more gray, but some part of the mix weathered and now indicates a bluish tint. Anyway, good luck with your effort to match it.

If you had to choose one of these two Hammers.....

I never worked construction or framing so have never worked with a 22oz hammer. I am 69 years so I doubt I ever will going forward. My 2 most used claw hammers are a 16 oz Estwing straight claw and an old 16 oz Stanley curved claw. Both have metal handles. I have always marveled at experienced...

Two for the Price of None

Having a parts machine for any restoration generally assures the ability to complete. If you can restore both that is great but if you only want/need one you got it. Good luck.

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Looks good. I have no clue as to the value of such a box but there is one listed in my local CL for $200. Based on that seems like you got a pretty good deal.

Just for fun, if you are of a certain age- do you still have any of your first tools?

I haven't lost, sold, broke, or had stolen very much over the years. Some, but not much. Buy good tools and some can last a lifetime. If I was to point to something just for the sake of this thread, I will point to my 3 piece Craftsman stack bought in the early 80's. A 10 drawer top, a 4 drawer...

What's your favorite BFH (Big F'n Hammer)?

I have certainly swung a 20 pounder a time or two. These days, the biggest hammer I have here is a couple 3 pounders. One with a short handle and another with a long handle. That is all the hammer I am going to swing these days.

Would you toss this Sawzall (Nicd)?

It should be a math problem. What would it cost power it? What method would you use? I have Dewalt stuff. Not long ago I picked up a Dewalt brushless dcs382 reciprocating saw for $100.00 on a price match from HD. Now if you can find an adapter for$20.00 or so that allows you to use your current...

    Craftsman Band saw mod#112.23580

I don't know a much about the Craftsman badged Parks saws. I do know there were options on some that had transmission. These are well thought of. They make excellent restoration projects. Value? What is any old thing worth? I have seen them advertised from a couple hundred dollars to over a...

The roofers are using battery powered circular saws

How much saw does anyone need to put a new roof on a house? I am sure some would default to "well, it depends". I expect many could install a new roof with a 6-1/2" kit saw of virtually any brand.

My Eleanor-Unicorn Craftsman Floor Model Table Saw 103.27270

Nice find. I like mine. A lot. They made the 27270 a few years. Does the case have a welded or bolted plate in the back? Also, does the frame have a couple holes in the bottom? These things will help you figure if it was earlier or later. Did it come with the handwheels? I will follow along.

What kind of tools do you stage throughout your home?

Screwdrivers, sharpening stone for the kitchen knives, flashlights are everywhere and a tape measure. I have more of my tools in my boxes/bags in the basement than out in the garage. No real need for staging much.

    Drill Press Table Repair

Arc of shame irritates me on these old presses. I put a premium on a press that doesn't have one. That said, I used JB Weld on one Craftsman table. It took a second application to get it right. Satisfied with the result. Satisfied with the hardness. In the end, it is a visible repair that...
