    You Can't Trust Internet Reviews

I certainly use reviews as a data point. But, no single piece of info is definitive. In the case above, I would just bring it back. Bitching about some budget brand $69 tool on the internet seems silly. More than that, a brushed Dewalt can be had for $89 on Amazon. If you are in the Ryobi...

    DeWalt 2x 8AH batteries and charger $149

Standard practice. Interesting enough, the first one I bought, I drove there and tried to do the same thing. I had it in a cart on my phone and showed them. They gave it to me at the sale price and even overrode my military discount so I got another 10%. I was happy. The other 2 I bought, was...

    Help with vintage tools

I have no clue what your old tools are worth. There is that old adage that rightly says "something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it". So when someone on the internet helps with estimates that seem extreme, ask if that is an offer? A place to look is sold listings on eBay. At...

    DeWalt 2x 8AH batteries and charger $149

After making that above post (post # 2) I decided to purchase another set. Now that I already have 2 of the 6 amp chargers I decided to sell this one on CL. Advertised for $40, sold for $30. All in a few days. Net, those 2 batteries cost me $120.

    Lowes deals/sales/clearance

For someone looking for a basic/budget Dewalt 20v kit, this is certainly worth a look. 4 piece kit/set with a couple 2a batteries, 2a charger and a bag for $200. https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-20V-MAX-4-Tool-Combo-Kit/5015401489

    DeWalt 2x 8AH batteries and charger $149

I did this the last time it was available with 2 sets. That is a steal for the batteries alone. I generally dismiss the added charger that comes with batteries and tools, this is different, this comes with a 6a charger.

Need a new Circular Saw, but what to get?

How many is an assload? 5 or 10 years ago, there were lots of posts on YouTube where the posters did cut tests on saws. But, more and more there would be sufficient cuts for 1 battery to last a days work. Now, nobody does the tests any longer. I doubt the average builder is wearing out a couple...

Sometimes I feel like tools are addicting.

I like tools owning and using tools. As a thing to spend money on it isn't too bad really. Imagine spending $10k on a remote control airplane and crashing it first time out? One can buy a lot of 12v, 18v, 20v and flex volt power tools as well as lots of wrenches, sockets, pliers and...

Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

Yeh, I saw that as I was cleaning it up. He didn't mention it in CL post and when I was picking it up I didn't really give it a good look because it was night and a bit dark, and it was 20 deg the other night. I just looked it over, pulled a couple drawers out and called the look over good. He...

Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

I just found a top box to use with the bottom box from post 2865. Here they are together. Neither is perfect. But they are pretty good for 50 years old.

    Painting an Old Toolbox

I wouldn't paint the inside of the drawers unless there was significant rust. I would just spend a little premium on some nice drawer liner material. I would paint where the drawer faces roll around any edges top/bottom/side. I would paint the inside of the top box. I doubt I would change the...

    Missing part/parts

I expect it would need to be inside the 2 webs.

    Missing part/parts

It is threaded in the raise/lower mechanism as well as the web just above the handwheel as pictured?

    Missing part/parts

Maybe a roll pin or bolt in the shaft just above the handwheel. Maybe there is supposed to be a sleeve there, pinned to the shaft. Just guessing.
