    Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial.

Hiball: a quick status on the HF 1-1/2 ton rapid pump jack. I removed the ram and reservoir, but I was not able to remove the cylinder, I was hesitant to push too hard on the pipe wrench over fears of warping it. I think I will leave it as is. The inside of the cylinder looks good to me. I...

    Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial.

yep, each drive pump had a copper washer (held on by the cylinder), and a 0.195" dia ball below the copper washer. Also another hole or channel in each of these. There were no observed issues with any of the pump piston parts. No worries Hiball, appreciate all the comments so far. As I...

    Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial.

yep, the internal screw, not the cap. I have had the caps out since the start (surprisingly no o-rings on those). Thanks.

    Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial.

ahh, I was thinking the 2 valves were both safety valves, I forgot about the rapid pump function, and that valve is not safety, but part of the rapid functionality. I understand better now. Some of my earlier statements are inaccurate. Thanks much. So any ideas why the rapid pump valve ball...

    Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial.

I have both safety valve screws set tight down right now (though I am hesitant to tighten too much, and I wonder if I am really compressing the springs). I know this is not correct for use, and I will set to proper turns once the jack is working. Thanks again Hiball. I know this jack is not...

    Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial.

Yeah, everything is back in proper place, and I think are all seated ok. Note that the safety valve leaks when I open the release valve, but not when the ram is holding a small load. That is the part that has me confused. Thanks again.

    Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial.

Thanks for the reply Hiball. The 2 piston pumps are the same size. I tried both purge methods, no change to jack functionality. How difficult should it be to lift the lift arm, it seemed to resist quite a bit. When I had the pump removed, I could cycle the ram piston fairly easily by hand, and...

    Overseas Jack Rebuild Help Tutorial.

Thanks Hiball for all of the info here, very informative. I decided to try to repair a free HF jack I got from a neighbor. It is a 1-1/2 ton quick pump aluminum racing jack, model 60569. The right side piston got stuck half way on him, and he left it that way for a few years. I removed the...

Thanks for response FrankLee: the diameter of the new spindle is 5/8", with very litte to no taper. That spindle is also 1/4" shorter than my original one. Yes on the thick washer, see new pics. And I do not see any provision for a screw through the chuck into the spindle. The chuck was...

    Craftsman Drill Press

So I am continuing work on the parts machine, got the chuck off and saw this on the spindle end. Is this OEM, or modified? The end of the spindle is much shorter, no noticeable taper, and a milled flat. The newer to me spindle is on the left on the 1st pic, and bottom on 2nd. The other...

FrankLee: thanks again for your assistance. - yes the chuck is a Supreme 6T33C. - there is old grease everywhere, the quill cavity was packed with grease. The quill lock spring was filled with grease. The set screws on the spindle bearings were replaced with more grease zerks, and that cavity...

    Craftsman Drill Press

As I had mentioned last fall, my CMan 80 works well except for the run-out. I found another drill press that I am hoping to remove the spindle and try in the refurbished machine. It is a 103.23120. I have not found the manual yet for this exact model. - overall good shape, the PO ran it...

    Tool warrantys meen nothing!

My view is that there is nothing inherently wrong with "making more money". We all do that. Businesses need to make money. And quite often they can make lower quality products because that is what most people will buy. The consumer (for the most part) sets the market, not the producer. And...
