A special shoutout to @Steel_Rain for sending out one of his TOP ratcheting wrenches!! Thank you! 👍🏻 Here's the original post he posted several weeks ago: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/tools-of-japan.97563/post-10817607 The texture of the surface finish instantly reminded me of...

    Koken 3300C-16 vs 330CZ-16

Probably because all 14mm plugs are bi-hexagonal. Ko-ken doesn't make clip style on any of their 12pt plug sockets. I have a 16mm universal joint model that I've been using for 12 years now and other than the chrome finishing on the socket showing scratches, the clips are doing an A+ job at...

This is why there's never been any wobble-fix extensions in the Z-series. Z-series items work best with its own brethren.

Spotted a CEJN air blow gun. In the tool roll, I believe I spotted a few USAG in-hex T-handles and wrenches as well. Possibly a MOB/Peddinghaus engineer's hammer in the tool roll too.

Ko-ken has been using a three-digit date code at least from the 90's. As for the use of letters, @Samuel D was close. October = O November = J If November is J, like "Jack", then you'd think December would be Q for "Queen", but "Q" can be easily mistaken for "O" so they decided on: December =...

Interesting. I'm the opposite. I always use a swivel type spark plug socket or use a universal joint with a standard spark plug socket. I'm not sure what you mean about messing up the torque if they are misaligned. I always torque new sparkplugs to seat them down properly.

I would advise against getting that. Take a look at that spark plug bore on a modern day BMW engine. Hard to pick up in picture, but that bore hole isn't a straight shot; it's slightly kinked. <a data-flickr-embed="true" href=" My advice is, if you're sticking to Ko-ken, just get the standard...

    Interesting design....VIM ratcheting wrenches

VIM is a buyer; not a manufacturer...as far as I'm aware they haven't in the last decade. These ratcheting wrenches have been available in Taiwan for 2 or years now. They have different styles/configurations. Probably just a matter of time before VIM imports the different styles .... unless...

I've had that ProAuto ratchet in my watch list for a few years now. A bit pricey for what would be a very limited-use tool for me.

No experience other than fiddling with one at a store. I don't think I've posted this before... Another blatant example of TONE misleading buyers by putting "Japan" on their products. TONE doesn't manufacture them; it has been sold under different brand names for several years now. Some pics...

the Nepros brand hand tool thread

Probably will, eventually. To answer you questions above: Ricleh probably bought a master set. You could inquire with KTC/Nepros to see if they sell the organizers separately. The Snap-on multi-purpose ratchets are still made. A couple years ago they released a Dual-80 version in 3/8 drive...

I bought my Ko-ken window moulding tool in 2018. Doesn't get a lot of use, but is a must have tool for pulling stubborn ones! Recent use for it was upholstery work. The broad surface area ensures I'm not going to damage the ribbing. Here's another related use, also upholstery:

Interesting to note that the yellow tape measure has a maker's marking: "KDS" So it seems like KDS was making the tape portion or the whole thing, but rebranded as a Mitutoyo. I was in Japan a few months ago and took a photo of the tape measure isle at some home center.

Yes, that adapter, has seen more use than I ever expected over the years. Yeah, if I was their product developer, I'd try to spec it as a 3/8sq tool. Oil pressure switches that I've seen are all low-torque applications. Same goes for their stud pullers and setters. I'd appreciated them more if...

This new year calls for, yet again, a need for Ko-ken's oil pressure sensor socket. A 24mm hex opening with the correct broach depth and bore diameter to cradle automotive oil pressure sensors. It's driven by either the 1/2"sq opening or with a 24mm wrench to work the flats near the base of the...

I can't remember what I said in the past, but SEK was probably one of many possible sources for Oxwall. I was able to confirm that SEK, at some point in time, supplied Oxwall with their round-head ratchets. As for those pliers, it could be from another OEM. The seller suggested Daido or Hozan...

I've got one, but I haven't used it yet! I have a 10mm to 1/4" square adapter mounted to it so that I have the option to drive sockets...but it's just been sitting in my box. I mentioned it here:

Cool Toyota tools. Last time I saw those nut-drivers, I saw it with a different grip: In some recent year they tried to address that, but apparently it was a bit much to do. If they did, it'll likely drive up the cost in production. My decade-old 3/8 flex-head has a grip that has had a...
