    Window units vs heat pump

I'll have an alarm and some glass doors anyway, so security isn't the issue. It's really more about the cost to buy one and then run it. Maybe install a couple of them on opposite sides of the room to improve circulation? I'd usually end up running my giant floor fan too anyway. It sounds...

    Window units vs heat pump

I'm considering using a 24,000 BTU window unit instead of a heat pump in my shop. It would seem to be much more affordable, both to buy and to run afterward. The amp draw is much lower, the shop would be heavily insulated, around 1,200 sf and only run on weekends when I'm wrenching. Thoughts...

New and Improved Taj ma garage

Thanks and glad you said something. The door on the end is to be a 10' door. The shop side of this is to be vaulted but will easily be 14' to clear my 2-post lift. I wonder if I can insulate a slide, barn type door and what height on the wall should the air lines be mounted?

New and Improved Taj ma garage

I'm looking to start my new 35 x 70 garage at my new house in early January. It will function as a garage for the house, a shop to work on my cars with a ton of storage up above. It needs to match a vermont type farmhouse, hence the hardyplank exterior. Here are the plans. Any suggestions...

    Repair epoxied floors for fabricators

I have the 2 part Rustoleum (I think it was that anyway??) I bought from Lowes that looked and performed wonderfully, until: I ground metal on it, welded on it, brazed on it, plasma cuttered on it, dropped hot metal cuttings on it, laid fiberglass on it, +++++ Got the picture? I TRASHED my...

Air line Q- No doubt a repeat, but please?

I'm planning to run 3/4" copper in my new garage to give me multiple air connections in the garage. Can/should I run it through the concrete or in the walls? I'll run mostly air tools like sanders, die grinders and things like that if it matters. Does putting it in the concrete give me more...

    Repair epoxied floors for fabricators

I built my mega garage a few years ago back, then started building hot rods in it. I've welded, ground and sanded and trashed the pretty floors I once had. How can I refinish them and what should I put on the floors when I build my new and improved car barn this winter? Thanks!

Best way to plumb a shop compressor?

Use copper. I put couplers and shut-off valves in 3 corners of my shop to be able to source the air close to my work. I might also suggest that you locate the compressor outside your shop if possible. I never would have believed it, but the noise they make is horrible. I'm loving having...

    Dust collection

It appears that you can hook this to saws and planers, etc., but what if you just wanted something to grab dust from the air (in the room)? Do you think this will do it?

    Dust collection

I wondered if anyone had suggestions for something that could be used to **** dust, etc generated from sanding cars in the garage. The stuff gets everywhere and I've got to believe something exists to help. I'm picturing some kind of dust filtration that can draw from the entire room. Thanks.

    My garage and party room

Here are the steps... I couldn't have external steps on the structure due to neighborhood rules and I didn't want to give up the floor space. I have storage areas on each side of the garage. I found the cheap motors shown on sale at Harbor Freight.
