    What the hell is this…….

That would be handy to have an automatic shower steam fan with a manual ON feature for smell. lolol. Thanks for the idea.

    What the hell is this…….

True.... if the fan was only used for shower steam. I don't think humidistats can detect smell. lolol. :D

    Generators and computers

Microwaves are run all day, every day in RV/Motorhomes/Camper trailers on generator power without much issue. If the generator (inverter, or non-inverter) has enough power to run the microwave then I don't think there's much else to worry about. Just my $0.02

Want to add another 50a circuit to this full panel for EV charger, but i am not finding a breaker combo that will get the job done.

Use two breaker spaces (or, one 2 pole breaker space) to feed a new sub panel. Then move that original circuit over the the sub panel..... Now you'll have extra spaces in the sub panel for the EV charger. That's my thought. However, you may be overloading the main panel at that point...

What stuff still requires SAE even if your doing all metric work?

In my opinion, EVERY tool set requires at least some basic SAE tools (sockets/wrenches) to be considered a "complete set". Even if the owner/user THINKS they will never need any SAE tools, they will most likely find themselves in need of a basic (for example) 1/2" wrench sooner or later. Why...

Fuse panel wire strain relief types

Just and FYI: Those plastic strain reliefs (like shown in post number one) are installed from the outside of the box, and they prevent the cable from being pulled out. If they are installed wrong (from inside the box) they will NOT prevent the cable from being pulled out. So, in other words...

    Generator - A/C

Congrats! I love my Micro Air Easy Start. We have lost power twice this summer.... Both times were during severe storms when it was in the upper 80's - mid 90's, with very high humidity. Our old house is not well insulated and it's also not very "tight".... so when it's hot and humid...

Recommendations for a new A/C system

inphx did indeed bump this thread with post #19, the post right before his, #18 is from 2015. Unless someone deleted a post in between....

Recommendations for a new A/C system

You resurrected a 9 year old thread to post where you purchased your new mini splits? I'm pretty sure the original OP has replaced his A/C by now. lolol. On second thought, it's been long enough, the OP is probably looking for ANOTHER new replacement system AGAIN. lolol

Future proofing Main panel and electric needs

Don't ask them... tell them. Tell them exactly what your plans are. Tell them exactly what you want. If your "wants" require a bigger panel with a higher amperage service, (than what comes included with the original price of construction) then it's absolutely going to be cheaper to make that...

    Power monitor and smart switches

I realize it's APP based.... but I am wondering is "internet service" required? Or is there a way to get data directly from the Emporia Vue box itself, via my home WIFI router, to my smartphone? Without using the internet at all? I appears the internet is required. That kina *****...

    Power monitor and smart switches

A few quick questions... 1. Is the Emporia Vue system web based ONLY? Or can it work as a stand-alone system on my local home network WITHOUT an internet connection? Does it NEED the cloud for it to work AT ALL, or just to get history data? 2. Where does the Emporia Vue "box" get it's power...

Good first scan tool to learn on

You can.... but it wont be 100% full bidirectional. Not yet anyway. But's it's coming, I'm sure of it. The best OBDII dongle that I've used yet is the Xtool A30-M. It operates on your phone or tablet exactly like their scan tools and it does have a good amount of bidirectional controls. (of...

I never should have switched from radio control to thermostat control for my A/C system

[Snip] I'm not sure how a thermostat can control humidity without running the A/C. Sounds like marketing **** to me. Unless that same thermostat is also wired to a dehumidifier. (which I doubt)

I never should have switched from radio control to thermostat control for my A/C system

I wouldn't say I am "funny" I've known about various programs where the power company will have control of my A/C in the summer in exchange for a discount for probably 25-30 years at this point...... and I have NEVER enrolled. Ever. So, FUNNY really isn't the correct word for it.... How...

I never should have switched from radio control to thermostat control for my A/C system

How much are you ACTUALLY saving from being enrolled in this program? Is it worth the headache? I would NEVER enter into an agreement where I let others make decisions for me, such as when my A/C unit is allowed run. lolol.

    I need a pole saw

Gotcha... Do you have a generator you can throw in the back of the truck? I don't care which tool you buy, I'm just throwing out ideas for you. What I really mean is... You should probably go out and buy the biggest, baddest, most expensive pole saw on the market. This is the Garage...
