My though on nail vs screw: nail have a better shear capacity then screw. screw have a better pull out capacity then nail. use appropriatly ;)

IMO unles you spray foam all the joint of the reclaimed polyiso, you don't have a effective vapor barriere..and not a good insulation either.

I would mount the pannel parallel to the trusses :| you could have order your metal the exact lenght (~16'6"). and you only have a 16' lenght to deal with instead of 25 and have joint in every lenght.

just raised the heel to get the height you're looking for. on my 28' span: I have 8' in the middle of a 5/12 pitch with a 3' raised heel. (here we have 16" of space to the trust member and insulation space.)

Check for windows and door installation spray foam in a can. they don't expand much after application(like 20%). go by smallish layer and you'll be fine. but those can cost a bunch compare to backing rod.

run the intake outside and call it a day.
