VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

That Reed 4AC is made by Columbian. Its actually a 206M3 If one shops around for the Reed model, you might find it is cheaper then the Columbian. I have a Columbian 205M3 and its a brute. The spindle handle dia is just under 1" .979 , bigger then Wilton's C3 and the threads for the side handles...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Here's another tip for those that have bullets. I noticed one vise that had a washer under one swivel handle so when he tightened it down to the max, it wouldn't stick out. That's always a easy fix for some new members out there, 1 Turn your vise upside down 2 loosen the handle pressing up the...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I've worked on alot of bullets and I think removing the pins is a total waste of time. One misstep with the punch can crack the casting in back. Also many times the pins drift out after its together or you have to end up making them. I have a long thin hard bristle brush. I put the body in my...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Shipping a vise made easy Fellas, we all seen nice vises however the ones we want most, are in other states and often the seller has no knowledge about shipping costs. If they can pack it properly and give you the weight and rough size of the box, sending him a prepaid shipping label will make...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I was given faulty information from a engineer from JPW. I called my buddy that works there and word is, the Tradesman vise has been move to Taiwan and the Pro series is made in China. C series and machinists are still made here. Sorry for the spread of false information.

    Columbian Vise - Age?

That almost looks like M3 behind 603. I think the M3's are their current model. That's if the screws go thru the faces of the jaw. I think. update I digress, I think its a 2

    Wilton 6" c-clamp...mfd usa?

I talked to a Engineer at Wilton down in Tenn about 2 weeks ago about their crappy jaws I've been getting. He told me Corp took all their Manufacturing over to Taiwan. He claims their quality will be as good if not better. The new ones that say USA are stock they are phasing out. Did you notice...

    Wilton 6" c-clamp...mfd usa?

Wilton made C-Clamps since the 40's however they are no longer making them here. Here's a little secret, Wilton no longer makes anything here and that now includes their Flagship Machinist's and Tradesman's vises. Everything is coming out of Taiwan. Same with Yost.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

A couple of reminders. Wilton Base assemblies can be used on certain model Craftsman/Columbian models, with the right configuration. Shown here is a 205M3 and a 10205, and a smaller Craftsman. Also. keep in mind that if you have a classic Chicago Bullet ( in this case 1951) the newer base...

Maybe the pin was missing and since he never saw swiveler before, got super P.O'd and made sure that back jaw would never move again.

I have a Parker 434 1/2 Static, base, and Dynamic that slowly moving its was to the garbage bin. The 974 base does not bolt underneath but its held on by a spring clip. Its bare, no jaws, no pipe jaws, no spindle no handle. The spindle was meatball design but sold. It's all in nicer then average...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Maybe someone noticed the cheap Bullet that Wilton will be pushing. Its's sooo Chinese looking. Wilton, since they sold out have raised the small parts prices 25% this year alone. 90% of their parts are coming from China and the tariffs are hurting them bad...
