I have and use the first pic version, Matco branded. It works just fine, although it is a little on the flimsy side for removing a very tight camshaft bolt or something.

The Flexzilla one pictured is metal, stays put, and i would recommend it. I purchased "just the tip" off my snap-on guy and screwed it on another blow gun I had laying around. I use it a lot more than other long blow guns.

The Mac Axis 1/2" ratchets are actually quite nice and USA. My longer go to is a 36" locking Matco. I have broken it more than once.

Just wanted to update. I was able to get this unit working a few weeks ago. It works great, however the blower motor is kinda noisy. I ended up buying another new(?), nearly identical NG regulated gas valve assembly and swapping the thermocouple valve portion only over to old valve...

I prefer The Right Stuff tube in a caulking gun. Leave a little excess hanging out the end and pull off with 2 fingers at next use. Everything else just doesn't store well.

Thank you very much Cobbler. I definitely needed to verify thermocouple and there inlines the problem... I think the thermocouple itself works? It ramps up to about 20mv DV with a cigarette lighter. However the thermocouple valve (removed from gas valve to test) does not open at this...

Negative have not tested thermocouple. I mostly understand how this and similar units work. It is my understanding that if checks pass, 12v is supplied to gas valve and it opens. Again, I am just looking to condemn (or not) the 30+ year old gas valve that seemingly does not open. Again, I...

To me a dial is very slightly more accurate based on feel and watching a needle. I mostly use crude digital ones for my non machinist typical crude measurements. I think accuracy depends on the measuring tool and tool holder...

7000 ERLC-LP is the part number I believe for said gas valve. Not readily available or cheap but there are a few around. Contemplating alternative heater for occasional cold weather use but strongly considering just fixing this unit for now. I appreciate your help.
