Thanks, it does have a 4" jaw and I found the numbers

A friend of mine asked me to help her with this Craftsman vise that was her dads. Where do I look to find numbers to Identify and figure out the date for this vise? Also, would this have been Red or another color? Thanks for any help!

Looks like it was made that way, does not look modified or welded on

Pretty simple looking, it came apart pretty easy.

A few more pictures. The only numbers I found was 62 under the swivel on the main housing and a 33 on the swivel itself. The handle has a spring-loaded ball that keeps a little tension against the handle so it stays in place when you let go of it.

The knob on the side of the handle is spring loaded to hold the handle instead of it being a loose slip fit

Was gifted this vise yesterday by an old friend's family. Proud to be the new caretaker. This morning I will see if I can get the swivel jaw to rotate. Believe it says Prentis, where it is cast it is hard to make out. 7" jaws

Todd, very nice work and cleaning and repairing the mill. I have switched from mineral spirits to PSC 1000 from Tractor supply for cleaning. cleans as good or better and lower price. I have 5 gallons on hand, if you want to try using it, I will bring you a gallon.

Todd did you guys at the machine shop have a set of hilman rollers to move equipment? Thats a good way to move heavier equipment.

Sawmill7 that is a 1911 10hp Bessemer. Originally installed on a Gas well in Lecrone Pennsylvania.

1928fxr I would have done that. If another opportunity comes up, please let me know. Also, if you wanted come see it and bring a few friends for a shop tour that can be worked out.
