Can someone confirm this wiring please?

Someone had to use the available circuits at the time. I have seen many cubicle sets with 3 or 4 circuits, think I've seen a 5 once or twice.

Curious what the sparkies think (Wago Video)

I have recently started using these to replace fan switches at the plant, when I have any. Motor leads are often very short. I can use these & not have to cut them on future replacements. I put leads on the switch & splice. Wago clamps down well on wires. Very secure.

Do these pliers look new to you?

I've cleaned a lot of handles with Gojo. Also used it to clean up a bunch of SJ and SO cords over the years. Used in dirty environments, removed and save for later use. Would have tacky grease/oil coating. Gojo did a great job. Soak a rag with it, go over the cable once or twice, then wipe again...

Curious what the sparkies think (Wago Video)

Back stab receptacles and switches will be with us until doomsday, but fortunately most have screws also. I haven't seen the stab only types in many years. If you see those, shop elsewhere. One type is the best of both worlds. You stab but also tighten a clamp. Avoids having to bend a loop...

    Chainsaw Chains

This is true, I am not a mechanic to any degree. I wish I had learned small engines in high school and later too. Got busy with life. Maybe I will find time to learn and tinker after retirement.

    Chainsaw Chains

I finally got an Echo CS400. The guy gave me $50 for the Stihl & 2 extra chains. Came out for $320. I’ve spent repair money on the Stihl over the years & it had gotten quirky. I was ready for a change.

    Poison Ivy on Cedar Tree

This tree fell over last year. I’m starting soon to remove the poison ivy. Can I make the tree safe to cut up and use for crafts or is the poison too much a part of it?

Curious what the sparkies think (Wago Video)

Buchanans were good for a long time. I agree about Scotchlocks, especially the big blue, Nearly impossible to tighten down. I like the 3M Performance Plus types. Thomas and Betts made a good one for a time, called Merrett Max. Large tan, haven't seen them in years.

Curious what the sparkies think (Wago Video)

UL is a money racket. I've seen a lot of junk with their label. Federal Pacific and Zinsco had UL labels, for starters. I've seen equipment with line and neutral terminations reversed. I had to replace a house full of Hubbell brand tamper resistant receptacles. Whole house rewire, all new...

Curious what the sparkies think (Wago Video)

I agree some are cheapo wirenuts and some not properly installed. But Buchanan B2's, are some of the most famous ones and were/are the gold standard to many electricians. They went though a phase where many of them were faulty. I think Ideal bought them out and improved the quality again. I quit...

Curious what the sparkies think (Wago Video)

I have seen wirenuts fail. Not every day but enough. I've seen them cracked, seen shell pull off the threads, seen a wire poke through the tip on some brands.

The right way to add conduit to panel?

I rarely saw any damage to NM run in this way. I did see some damaged when run under a porch where water dripped on it constantly during the rainy season. Also to a few pieces buried in the ground, a bigger no no for NM.

Curious what the sparkies think (Wago Video)

I distrusted the lighting push ins when they came out. We cut them off for a long time and used wirenuts instead. But someone convinced me they were much better than the device stabs. I met an Ideal rep at a supply house. They made a lot of them. I asked how the method could be so poor with...

The right way to add conduit to panel?

But it was allowed for many years to feed in a short conduit to an outdoor panel. I've done numerous service changes and refed existing NM to an outdoor panel. Inspected and approved. Some jurisdictions may have always required it but many let it go for a long time. If I were splitting circuits...

Curious what the sparkies think (Wago Video)

I have used them and like them, though not in bulk. I save them from lights we demo. Excellent connectors. Levers hold tight & make it easy to remove 1 wire if needed. Wago also makes pin connectors. Use on stranded wire going into terminal blocks.

The right way to add conduit to panel?

That may have been installed before code required weather rated conductors. I forget the year that took effect. Some jurisdictions still allow NM when replacing old panels & reconnecting existing wires.

15 amp house circuit keeps cutting out

Lots of good thoughts here. I agee with killing breaker & going box to box, every switch & receptacle, every light. Yes, get rid of any backstabs, replace any burned device. Check any 3 way and 4 way switches for a neutral crossed with travelers. That could trip a breaker when a certain pair of...

    Chainsaw Chains

Going over to the Stihl dealer in the morning for his opinion. Echo model I saw is CS-4910-18, $385

    Chainsaw Chains

I’ll look into that but I’m not much of a mechanic. I’m just a worn out electrician. 🤣 I just picked up the saw. It’s an MS 260. My first one years ago would have been the 026. Is the 260 also a classic? Comparable Echo $385.
